The reserve job I'm trying to get would cover TPIC. I'd like to live near GEG, hence the appeal. Just wasn't sure how they'd react to me being gone 8 straight days out of a month.

I haven't heard of any airline giving guys grief over dropping mil leave whenever they want - with the exception of being in the schoolhouse for initial, which is understandable.
Get familiar with USERRA. You are protected by federal law in serving and, honestly, the airline business is the perfect fit for serving in a squadron. There isn't work piling up while you're on mil leave.

Alaska Air Group in general is great about supporting the Guard and Reserve. I never had any problem getting time off for drills or active duty and have never heard of anyone who did.
In fact, during the Gulf War, Alaska allowed the guys who were called up and were working McChord to the desert to fly one trip a month to keep their medical benefits active for the families and maintain currency.
You shouldn't have any Reserve problems at QX.

I'm guessing not at all. Most people commute the other way because the west coast is better. There are tons of regionals on the east coast hiring as well.
