Hey, I'd be grateful for y'all's informed opinion on my situation.
I'm currently in Phase II of my application, and assuming I'm successful, here's my situation and question:
I have 4 years at a regional on the E175, but I've had to go the last 6 months with zero flying.
I'd prefer to end up on the A320, but I should I try to start with the E190 (almost identical to the E175, and already covered by my type rating) due to my lack of currency? I've been chair flying and reviewing everything, for what it's worth, but I don't have experience with not flying for this long. Do I really need the E190 time as a warmup, or is it not that big a deal? (Relevant: I'm generally a good study, and have never failed a checkride, recurrent, or anything.)
Thanks in advance.

Probably not a big deal at all. You’ll be surprised how easy the training is on either airplane. People make it seem like the airbus is so much more complex but it really isn’t. In some ways it’s much more simple. Also, people had longer flying droughts through Covid and they learned the airbus so I wouldn’t worry. You’ve got airline experience already.
Great, that's what I was hoping was the case. Thanks for your insight.

I know when I was hired more than a decade ago, the Airbus guys in class studied about twice as much as the E190 guys, and seems less relaxed. Opinions will vary. I have all three bag stickers (not literally) and the A220 is the easiest, the E190 next, A320 most difficult for training. Not by a wide margin, but that's what I think.

I think only you know your strengths and weaknesses. If you are normal the ace of the base, usually get through training events easier than your peers, you'll be fine. And you normally struggle or have to study and practice more than your peers to get by, you may wanna take the safe route, just in case. Only you can answer that question.

I'll definitely have to think about it. (Or maybe I'll get lucky, and there will only be one type available to my class!)

This sounds like good advice and good information, thank you for that. (I guess I'm somewhere in between. I've passed every checkride so far, but I also put in a lot of preparation to maximize my chances.)

Ask yourself these few questions. Did you ever fly a 175 before you were typed? Do you really want to go to two long term training events? Do you want to be on a fleet that it’s publicly stated they’ll be out of in 2 years? Guaranteeing the above mentioned two long stretches in MCO?
