Fatigue is federal law. You cannot get fired over it. Even if a fatigue committee concludes it wasn't the company's fault, it still cannot be used against you. Even the FAA can't use it against you. The FAA is constrained by the law, as is the company. If they did fire you, you would win in court even with My Cousin Vinny.
Now... an Irregularity Report or other similar internal company report, is NOT protected by law, so be careful what you write in those!

Heck at SW we’ve had guys (and gals) sleep in the crew lounge for lack of any hotels during an irop. unfortunately I think things like that happen no matter what airline you’re at. They’ll keep a handful of open rooms at our mega stations just in case, but not much you can do during widespread cancellations. Livin the dream right?

And cancellations cause passengers to seize open rooms before we have a chance to process the cancellation internally sometimes.
