7/11 Meltdown

We all can. Treat every person you come into contact with like you would want to be treated. Be kind, be understanding, respect them, and don’t lie. Doesn’t mean put ourselves on the front lines, just means when given the chance, be kind. And of course most importantly, don’t risk your job saying something you shouldn’t. This may require not lying- but telling a good tale.

Had a guy on the jumpseat a few months ago who told me his New Year resolution was to stop apologizing for the company and things that are out of his control.
I like it.
A great way to reduce stress at work is to just not GAS anymore. Just ask Peter Gibbons!

The less you care about the stuff you can’t control, the easier it will be getting thru a trip at this mickey mouse operation.
The company is required to give you the necessary tools to complete your job (dispatch release, catering, fuel, transportation mx, etc. if they don’t, you can’t complete your job safely. It’s that simple! They try to skate by sometimes without some of these tools or have the frontline employees just ‘take care if it’, but it is not our job! But A LOT of guys here still do, which is why we have this mediocre CBA today.
Over the past couple of years they have cut our benefits, profit sharing and made false promises. I don’t understand why anyone would still help out the company and pad their bonuses and pockets, when they have made it clear they will not share any of the profits!

Exactly what you should do. None of these situations raise my anxiety one point. Depart legally, operate and land safely. Company can choose anywhere they want that landing to be. The particulars behind that don’t weigh on my shoulders. Whenever I end up with a hotel, rest starts when I’m behind the door. After rest I’m perfectly fine to do whatever you need so long as it complies with the CBA, 117, FOM and FAA.
This job is always great when you only concern yourself with things within your control.

I’m guessing the plane was bound for LGA and was dispatched to JFK instead? Customers were informed ahead of time that the plane would go to JFK? If so, I don’t see all the huff and puff about this. 95% of the passengers would likely decline ground transport to a closed in the middle of the night terminal that’s 5 miles from their destination, one that would have no taxi support, no mass transit available, and no shelter.
