Quote: What kind of flight times are actually competitive to be hired by JetBlue?
April new hire here. My class had five with mil experience.
Average civilian time was about 5500 hours.
All had some TPIC. All but one had a degree, and that individual more than made up for it in other areas. Five had a masters.

Quote: 3k is the bare minimum. Or 3500... can’t recall.
Competitive is relative.
Yeah maybe that's the case. Took me 6 apps and 3k TT with over 500 TPIC and then I got a call. And that's what someone told me prior so I believed that to be the case to put you in the pile of interesting. I can agree that's probably the minimum....

I have 3-4 friends I went to college with all called to legacies under 3k TT, so figuring out what's competitive at a legacy is surely more impossible IMO

Quote: There are some sub 3k hour guys with straight civ backgrounds who we have hired over the last few years. Probably not the norm. I think most applicants have several years in the regionals. As the legacy hiring continues to be strong and the experience pool in the regionals shrinks, I anticipate the number of inexperienced new hires will grow though. Also, the first batch of 0 hour ab initio guys with a fresh 1500 hours (spent in clear and a million Phoenix weather) and who have never seen a jet up close will hit the line fairly soon.
Yea there’s outliers. When I threw my blue dart i was told to wait till he had 3k.

Quote: I don't know if there is a cookie cutter answer, but I believe 3000 TT and at least 500 TPIC is a pretty good sweet spot.
TPIC not required, but preferred.

I knew a guy in college who got on with Continental at 850 hrs because he was an inturn there.

The internet probably made fun of him for going to such a terrible airline, admonishing him to "stay at your regional and hold out for Delta."

I was an intern at CAL way back in the day. The standard seemed to be 1000hrs right seat RJ time and you were on your way to mainline. I’m sure some slipped in with less like you said. I, on the other hand, must have royally ****ed off everyone I came into contact with since I couldn’t even get an interview.

Sometimes you can be just too much awesome for your circumstances. People just can't handle too much awesome. Flyby is just too much awesome.
