Just chiming in that tailoring isn’t remotely free. At all.
And neither is food at the lodge. |

I’m sure some people are harder on their uniforms. In my experience, I’m still wearing the original issued uniform after two years. Pants are in fine shape and the shirts are ok. I’ll refresh the shirts this year. Tailoring cost me $15/shirt and the pants were $12 each. I had the shirts taken in and the sleeves hemmed, and the pants were hemmed only. One of my ties is indestructible and the other pattern falls apart after one use. I stopped wearing that pattern. The suiting jacket is in fine shape, the overcoat has hardly been worn, and the sweater is junk. However, it’s my favorite to wear due to its warmth so I deal with it.
I don’t get the *****ing about tailoring. The uniform allowance is plenty to cover it. If it isn’t, you should find a different tailor or accept that you want to spend more on “premium” tailoring. I’m sure an RSA will cover your next 5 years of tailoring. The uniforms are the least of our problems. We should fix them if we can, but spend very little effort on it compared to the rest of our issues. |

Your attitude is counterproductive to the advancement of the Airline Pilot Profession. If you were serious. I hope you weren't. Please tell me you were being sarcastic. What's terribly sad is that I have to ask given this pilot group. |

How much have you paid, out of your own pocket, for tailoring?
I feel we have enough to pay for everything, but it’s not “free”. And of my three shirts, within a year I’ve had one epaulet fall apart, a hole in the seem of a pair of pants, and I flew less that 300 hours. And I ONLY dry clean. |
overcoat
I'm still owed $150 for an overcoat.

Good god we are in trouble at this place on our next contract.
Tailoring .... is... not ... free. At all. This is literally black and white. |

I used negotiated monies that I could have otherwise used to purchase luggage, more uniform pieces, etc. I had to make the decision to use that money towards tailoring. I also don’t pay for parking if I report in less than 2.5 hours, that’s a negotiated benefit, not free parking.

hmmmmm I think 2013?
We had the 2011 blue and different wings. At some point we got those other blue shirts that we’re supposed to not fade but apparently could easily catch fire. The dumb overcoat was an option and the leather was eventually phased out. I don’t know they made such of a production of it before I doubt they would just be like here white shirts. I am curious what they will do for 20 years. hmmmmm 20 super passes to be used in 20 days? For the tailoring guys... tailoring isn’t free you can elect to have it deducted from your uniform stipend, but it’s the same $200 you get to buy uniforms. Choosing between a new shirt or tailoring an old one isnt my idea of paid for by the company. |

So... zero out of pocket. Another way of saying free to you. As in you did not pay for it. As you said, we have more than enough money for uniforms/tailoring/other items. We are saying the same thing with different words. Someone else is paying for your uniforms.
Breakfast is free at some hotels because you don’t pay for it. Most places, breakfast is not free. If you do have to pay for it using perdiem money, it is not free. Likewise, uniforms are not free. |
