whaaa??

this was a quick MOU to address an urgent need.

dude, if you get the virus or have to care for family or quarantine as a precaution you are 100% pay protected don’t have to use PTO.

you want UTS? Just ask the company for a LOA unpaid. I’m sure they’re game.

if you want to take concessions I’m sure they’d be happy to give you PS in exchange.

Non union folks just get to be unencumbered by dependability policy and can run negative PTO. Different universes

I wished I lived in your universe. What an amazing and whimsical place that must be! Looking through beautiful rose colored glasses at majestic unicorns and rainbow rivers. But, unfortunately, I live in the reality that at a MINIMUM I expect 500 fellow JetBlue pilots to be unemployed by the time this is over. I know you are just trying to get a rise out of guys with this line of thinking (I guess it worked), but maybe this isn’t the time. When this is over JetBlue could have had 4 billion the the bank and it won’t be enough. Hopefully the company survives and maybe even thrives after the turn around. You are one shrewd negotiator, though. Let’s really put the screws to em!!!!! Just stop, you make yourself sound foolish.

Most of the CBA was a concession. PS: concession (codified). UTS: concession PTOSB: concession. And with all that, rates still below peers. We’ve conceded enough. There are no concessions, even now, with the exception of reduced flying. But when the company needs something from us (reduced flying, re-bids, mutually beneficial Coronavirus protections), that is an opportunity to get something back that we gave away before. Never let a crisis go to waste.

Its not industry leading. We (FedEx) have had these in place for the last 1.5 months. We also have additional pay override provisions and opt out provisions in our LOA. Not throwing shad just want you to know its already been done for a while.

Are you seriously that shortsighted? Do you seriously think JB’s PR/legal department can handle “jetblue pilot has Coronavirus and was flying sick because their policy didn’t afford to pay protect them when every other airline and every other jetblue employee was pay protected.”

Prior to this LOA, a pilot had a family member who they thought was sick with CV19 (couldn’t get a test but was negative for flu). Family doc ordered a 14 day quarantine for family knowing he was a pilot. Company said you can PTS/UTS. He said I’m not losing pay or PTO, and I’m not symptomatic or sick, so I’ll just brief my crew accordingly when I go to work tomorrow. He was taken off the trip and pay protected.

JetBlue can’t afford to NOT have this policy in light of what most other companies are doing from a PR or liability standpoint.

You realize the company could just say we need X amount of no fly lines (zero pay) for April. Then, having satisfied the CBA concerning negotiating furlough mitigation decide to furlough 500 pilots for May. We are going to be obscenely overstaffed for at least the next 6 months. Sometimes you just have to understand you aren’t holding an ace. The company has a royal flush when it comes to staffing and negotiating power. We better hope THEY LET a crisis go to waist. I want to keep all guys employed!
