Well lucky for us Big D just banned the Seal dude who killed Bin Laden for taking a selfie w/o a mask. Public attention will shift. Peeps don't like when you kick the little babies off the plane but they REALLY don't like when you ban the soldier terrorist killer dude off.

I see. So don't fly, right?

You do realize the 25% travel demand today that are traveling are almost ALL leisure, mostly people flying to see families? That's why I bought tickets on Spirit for my wife and kids. Go ahead, and start throwing off 3 yr old kids for not wearing a mask. Watch that 25% current travel demand fall to 10%. Business travel is dead. The little flying people are doing is mostly to see family, leisure. Careful what you wish for. Keep this up, and those who can drive will drive. Then you'll act shocked when airlines cut even more flights and up the number of furlough letters.

Meanwhile, every week the mask rules get stricter, not looser. And they tell us to enforce this impression by playing up the masks in our pilot PAs. And they request that we lead by example and make our PAs in the cabin, wearing our masks.

Every memo for the last 4 months reinforce this one theme:
“We need PR to survive, and the best PR is to show the flying public we’re serious about these COVID rules. Specifically, our mask policy is all about our PR and image. Jetblue management is serious about these masks. You should be, too. And in case we weren’t clear enough, when in doubt always side with the mask rules. In other words, ignore the mask rules at your own peril. Sincerely, Robin.”

It is what it is. I wouldn’t travel on an airplane with my 3 year old now either. No need to get emotional, those are just facts on what most parents with a toddler would do. If that somehow means more furloughs, then so be it. If you actually think you can personally help turn around the airline industry by flying with your family, then I wish you the best of luck.

Yeah, no. The sailor is a disgraced Seal. His story is questionable and he’s not welcome in the Seal community. He’s a self-promoting knucklehead and nobody, especially not Delta, will think one second more about banning him. But if that’s the beach you want to die on ...

You know why the mask rule gets stricter? It’s because people expect it. You’re in the minority if you think people should have the option to wear masks on a plane.

Now the almost 3 year old situation is a difficult one. It’s a no-win scenario. The anti-maskers scream “See!! Nobody will want to fly is!” Meanwhile another huge group is relieved that Jetblue is taking the mask rule seriously.

In the end this is a nothing story. Sure the PR department has to worry about it but it’s a small blip in the larger scheme. Not even close to the negative PR of the Dr Dao beat down. But then again United did that to the poor man, so.. to be expected.

Disclaimer, I've never raised a kid, got my stepdaughters all grown up. I can see the difficulty in keeping a mask on a young child, but aren't parents capable of forcing a child to comply? Is it illegal to spank a child now days?

I remember a few years back a family was kicked off a major airline because their 3yr old kept unfastening their seatbelt so that the jet couldn't takeoff. The parents wouldn't force the child to comply so back to the gate and given the boot. Dr. Phil commented on his show about this saying something like "sometimes the parents have to be the parent, not the child's friend."

Not to preach. Just a wise incite. Maturity.
