There's an unwritten hierarchy that guys basically signal how they see themselves in the system. You see it all the time.
"I haven't been on reserve in years..."
"I don't fly weekends"
"I could hold XYZ but I don't because....."
The London guys will be the new Alpha dogs and everyone else is explaining why they don't want to.

What dep/arvl times do y'all have for LHR? Are they going to be late afternoon/early evening departures out of the east coast with morning arrivals into LHR with morning departures out of LHR back to the US late morning/early afternoon?
If that's the case, those schedules are probably the most commutable trips in the business.
Will y'all be staying downtown or out by the airport? If you're out by the airport, the overnight will get old very quickly.

I did UK flying almost exclusively for 2 years. The trips are very commutable. It’s pretty easy flying. The downside is if that is all you are doing, it will make you old quickly. You are basically in a constant fatigue cycle. Even with the nap you are off body time, all the time. And, depending on how your contract works, you may have to do 5/month to get your hours. It blocks at 13-14 hrs.
Anyway, good luck and happy bidding

Ahh. I thought more info had been released.
From a crew standpoint, y'all could get lucky and have the morning departure out of the US with an evening departure out of the UK. It's a 15-ish hour 2 day trip where you never leave the east coast time zone.

I think it's comical that we judge other pilots based on what they bid. Who cares if someone wants to fly to England, or stay on the 190, take the first upgrade, stay in right seat, etc.? I understand trying to gauge interest, to get a feeling for how it may affect your seniority, but why make fun of someone for some kind of hypothetical patches? We don't assume everyone who bids FLL just wants to put a "Rebel base" sticker on their rollaboard or wants to wear a "Red Line Crosser" patch. If you're a commuter, like the idea of every trip being 2 legs, have family in London, or whatever, you may have great reasons for bidding it that have nothing to do with ego.
