If you're on reserve then yes, you're required to respond to company notification. My point is that they expect to easily make contact with us when they need us, but when we legitimately need help, they're nowhere to be found.

Why are you guys or anyone else sitting on hold for that long, especially for a self dhd. Send it on the ipad and go! I swear our pilot group gets dumber by the day.
I'm not sitting around biting my nails hoping they pickup. I have the phone call going in the background and then usually screen shot and send it to the union. Anything that can be used against them is helpful. When I was waiting on my self request, I was actively boarding the flight while on hold. I did my part, they failed to do theirs. I'm not losing sleep over them not picking up, but it's completely unacceptable.

Other times though, we've sat on hold for over and hour because we had active pairing disruption issues and needed answers, and were unable to get them until actually getting in touch with someone.

Ive had several instances where I’ve had to call them and hold. Here are a couple: I timed out but they still had me on an (illegal) assignment where i was to leave on a DHD in a couple hours. No hotel…yeah I could just not get on (mid pairing), Uber or Lyft to a long stay hotel and expense both, but there was no rooms at the contract long stay and every decent hotel around there was $400 or so a night (ended up getting through after a couple hours, off the flight, needed 2 hotel nights because it ended up being a 19 or 20 hour layover, and my bill was just under $1k). I’m not risking expensing that. Or having an unplanned overnight which is 18 hours, getting assigned the airport hotel instead of the long stay…I could either accept the short stay for my crew and me, or call them to change it. There are a few other instances where my choice of staying on hold was the best option. I don’t think people are staying on hold just to self. Often there’s a reason for it.

Because there were zero available seats and they had to bump revenue passengers. Can’t “self” on a full flight with two jumpseaters.

Even as a rsv you aren’t expected to acknowledge a jet crew notification. I get what you mean on they want you to
answer but they suck at answering when we need something.

The issue I’ve had is I’ve previously made a pdr when I was a new hire about no response to a self and the response I got was that I can’t self without a jet crew response even if it’s hours later. Then with this “irop level” the last couple weeks I got a response directly saying my self was denied due to irop level which isn’t really clear if that’s contractual. Both times on hold over an hour with no response. Being on the newer side of jetblue it’s a little nerve wracking to jump on a jumpseat while your pairing still has a company deadhead on it.

Speaking of IROPs. What level are we in? Are we still in level 2 from like a week ago?

I think you have to fill out a PDR and Letter to Congress to find out.

Technically we are not even in an IROP level as a separate message to the pilots specifying the CBA recognized IROP level was never sent out. Cancellation package announced last week with neither the “all clear” or nor even “modifications continue” email sent out. All the while self Deadhead requests being denied citing ongoing modifications and they wonder why people won’t pick up these open broken pairings with leading or trailing deadheads.

Wasn't the cancelation package suppose to be done yesterday?
