Supplemental bid— FEB. 22nd
#11
JB got its 5th 320 sim in early 2018 I believe. The 6th came at some point after that…I think shortly before the first A220 sim came. The 2nd A220 sim came in December, and a new (7th I believe) 320 sim has been delivered in parts for the last month or so. Additionally, the 3rd 190 sim (I believe it’s the same one JB used to own, but sold several years ago) that is in Dallas was added to the list since we are renting sim time there. But, I don’t see 4 new 320 sims added to the list. I see the list of 6 total 320 sims, 2 a220 sims, and 3 190 sims, and I think a 7th 320 sim should be up and added soon. These have been planned for some time and are in line with standard deliveries and growth. That’s not to say there won’t be additional aircraft deliveries (or deferrals). But I don’t see any added sim capacity outside of what has been planned for a while, and it’s on small incremental numbers matching the existing fleet/order book. But maybe you’re seeing something I’m not.

if you look at those (more recently 2022-F004TR) it lists all the total sims/FTDs that can be used by jetblue. Total number of 320 sims is 6, 190 sims is 3 (including the Dallas one), and 220 sims is 2 (the 2nd one was the one added a week ago via that info notice). I think the new 320 sim will be the 7th. So the two 220 sims are new, the 3rd 190 sim is new to us (new to us again that is, and we don’t have exclusive use of it), and then 320 FFS6 is a fairly new but not brand new 320 sim, and as I mentioned there’s (i think) a 7th 320 sim being built. So it wasn’t just a rapid acquisition of new sims, they were all planned with the planned aircraft deliveries and growth (I think).

TMK JB has sourced the Hud and had it installed and Certified in Dallas. The HUD must be available and useable since JB fleet requires its use.

Had recurrent a couple weeks ago. According to leadership they will eventually need to do a 190 MCO displacement bid but now right now. Eventually they will begin downsizing the 190 base by not backfilling positions. A220 will not be in MCO ever, FLL yes. When? No specific dates. First 190 leaves next year. Keeping 30 for now, returning 30. All depends on NEA agreement. No plans to expand MCO 320 base. Sounds like 320 MCO will become even more senior when that happens. This supplemental bid is mostly about staffing levels due to lots of attrition.

Yeah, great for the company. Pilot group, not so much.
I find it funny how many people I've been randomly running into celebrating the 190 going away, especially the MCO base. Notably, a new bus captain upgrade that can just barely hold it that was sitting at the table next to me in the schoolhouse break room recently. He was so thrilled there will be less 190s...clearly he has never considered the sheer mayhem that a displacement in Orlando will produce including getting kicked out of his seat. Not all the 190 pilots both CAs and FOs are going to be able to get on the MCO bus list and many current MCO FOs, on both planes, will get displaced as a result booting others out of the left seat.
