zero wind, 40c, 1000' PALT landing on a 5k runway would be approx 110,000 max landing limit weight.

Landing there wouldn’t be much of an issue at all. Those electric brakes are very good. Taking off out of there would be interesting. We do a rolling takeoff until 20 knots GS which eats up a lot of pavement.

You don’t buy a new plane for a, seasonal, single outstation. You ask the airport to adapt, and if they don’t, you say goodbye.

As for EYW, it’s already scheduled to go to the a220 this fall.

Interesting. I think AA or Delta flies a 319 into EYW don’t they? Would think the weights are pretty similar.

right..that’s landing. The figures posted in the FAA chart supplement is the estimated safe weight bearing capacity, as in takeoff too. Basically up to that weight, you are good for typical operations and it will hold. It’s not a limitation, but anything above that and you are testing it with no guarantees and need agreement with the local authority. Taking off you are going to be way over 110K…not to mention performance requirements for balanced field length.

I’ve been down there in the GA days and watched a SW 737-7NG almost go for a swim in marshes off the end of 27 in the summer, I can tell you guaranteed he didn’t clear the end by more than 20 feet.

Company doesn't ask pilots what any of them want... They are gonna do what they are gonna do, no matter how some feel about it.

Indeed. There's probably 4200 opinions on the subject, and pilots are notoriously self-universe-centered. So most of the ones who never were going to consider an E190 seat or are senior enough to be above most E190 pilots, they just don't care. Even simply having more pilots on the seniority list doesn't universally improve an individual pilots QOL if his long term seat/base/seniority isn't growing/improving.

But you guys are right, the option of being a more senior pilot on the junior airplane is going to go away, and that has implications on a large proportion of the list. On the other hand it is net fleet growth and replacing nearly a quarter of the fleet with higher paying aircraft. I've learned it's almost impossible to get other pilots to give any franks about another pilots situation, unfortunately.
