EYWs pavement limitation for a dual tire landing gear is 125K and Martha's is 108K. I looked up a random BOS to FLL 220 flight release and they were about 85% full, No alternate, took off at almost 142K and landed at 128K with 8K lbs FOB at landing. EYW to BOS or anywhere but MCO/FLL isn't going to work without serious caps, nevermind adding alternate/hold fuel...at least for a -300, high thrust variant if it exists is meaningless for this case.

Interesting. I think AA or Delta flies a 319 into EYW don’t they? Would think the weights are pretty similar.

I’ve been down there in the GA days and watched a SW 737-7NG almost go for a swim in marshes off the end of 27 in the summer, I can tell you guaranteed he didn’t clear the end by more than 20 feet.

right..that’s landing. The figures posted in the FAA chart supplement is the estimated safe weight bearing capacity, as in takeoff too. Basically up to that weight, you are good for typical operations and it will hold. It’s not a limitation, but anything above that and you are testing it with no guarantees and need agreement with the local authority. Taking off you are going to be way over 110K…not to mention performance requirements for balanced field length.

But you guys are right, the option of being a more senior pilot on the junior airplane is going to go away, and that has implications on a large proportion of the list. On the other hand it is net fleet growth and replacing nearly a quarter of the fleet with higher paying aircraft. I've learned it's almost impossible to get other pilots to give any franks about another pilots situation, unfortunately.
