B6 current contract - a reserve who is assigned a 3-day trip can call out sick for day 1, be taken off the trip, have 4:12 deducted from PTO, and be back on reserve days 2 and 3.
Or they can call out sick for all three days and have 4:12 x 3 deducted from PTO.

50hrs first year maxing out at 270 once reaching 20years. It is use or lose.
Doc note currently needed if use over 100hrs in last 12 bid periods. New TA will raise that trigger to 120.

So if you have 270 hours can you use that for dropping trips? Picking up extra vacation weeks? Anything besides calling in sick?

Can’t use sick time to buy vacation. We can deposit credit above 80hrs in a bid period into our “bank”…you could then use those banked hours to buy extra vacation days. Another common technique is to fill up your bank right before a giant pay raise, like year 1 to year 2, or right seat to left seat…deposited at the lower rate but withdrawn at the higher pay rate.

*technically you can “borrow” vacation days from the following year and use them to drop a trip, but you only get the value of a vacation day (currently 3:30/day) , not the trip it dropped

at DL it’s just sick time, not PTO. We have sick time and vacation days bid each year*, but no PTO.
