With everything going on and the turmoil with the stock price/ hedge funds/ west coast bases this screams as a classic distraction. “They are asking us for feedback!” “Where do you want a base?”

I am excited for you guys to get your pay raise later this year and raise the bar. Don’t let these wall street dickheads kill the airline by pumping short term profitability over the long term health of the company.

I was just taking the survey and the stopped because of this. I'm facing possible displacement as a junior CA, and while I could hold another CA seat in a different airframe in my base, I don't want to. I'd rather stay in my base on the same plane and go back to the right seat but that's not an option I can select. What's the point of taking the survey if the data is going to be incorrect?

Your situation (and sounds identical to mine) is more straightforward. They can absorb FO displacements/overstaffing via new hire vacancies. They can't just carry CAs and fix it via attrition. This survey is for planning. High level overview.

The questions are too specific; as in, they don't let you select from all the possibilities. Displaced FOs can only select another FO position. Displaced CAs can only select another CA position. That's not how displacements work. If they're relying on this survey for high-level planning, they're going to be unprepared when the displacement happens.

Also for half the pilot who live west of the Mississippi, why don’t we open a Midwest base that our pilots actually want rather than an SJU base? #caring

Because #caring isn't driving the decisionmaking - profitability is.

I dont believe they are just gonna decide to open a midwest base without much of a midwest presence just because "We love pilots". That ain't it. We have a big presence in SJU and they would love to open a base there because it makes business sense, not because they love us. We are a part of that equation for staffing, and having folks local for when shiet hits the fan, but the decision is not being made for caring about us.

They also dont want a majority of commuters being based there because when a hurricane pass through then everyone commuting will be OOP. So again, its not because they care abt pilots. Its abt money and protecting the operation when things go sideways.

Right, when you look at the interactive Jetblue route map and see where we do non-crew base to non-crew base flying it is majority SJU, with BDL/TPA/DCA being the other similar cities. We break a lot of pairing in these cities because of this and adding crew bases there would help reliability and re-crewing those flights during an IROP.

I can’t see a new crew base west of BUF until we get bought/merged with someone else.
