-I'm still going with United. Southwest is only a distraction, and they're in on it to get the most out of the divestiture.
* Hopefully Jared's deal will be as weak as our DHs in a secondary pairing...well, we tried to get you a window/ aisle, sorry.

Ahhh, don't give up on our future. If it has Biden's name on it, Trump will get rid of it. This "continuation" is temporary until Trump gets his way on Executive power. All M&A will go through Trump himself. If we offer unlimited cookies beyond 2028, the deal will be done. If we offer Jared free flights for life*, the deal will be done.

The new administration’s DOJ literally stated their plan to continue the previous DOJ’s policies .
UA put out an 8-K to put an end to any rumors about any type of M&A.
Yesterday the company again denied any rumors of any merger or acquisition of any type .
But ya, sure, UA is going to buy us and the new DOJ will be a lot more open to corporate mergers😂😂😂

You could be right, you could be wrong. Fact is you don't know, you're just typing with confidence then run on back to operate a flight to JFK(or wherever) and go home, like the rest of us.

This is the exact definition of insanity.

UA put out an 8k to say they haven’t begun mutual discussions with an Airline as of that day. They never said the won’t. And to JonNYCs credit, he never said United approached any airline. He just stated that they have internal interest. I still think there is something there.
Yesterday the company denied any rumors put out up to today, in relation to United, Alaska, and southwest.
I still think AA is the play. But I DO agree that it’s time to stop thinking an announcement is coming in the next few weeks or months even.

This article provides insight into the Trump administration’s dual approach to mergers and acquisitions.
On one hand, the administration is relaxing regulatory constraints to encourage deal-making across industries. On the other, it remains committed to antitrust enforcement, particularly in sectors prone to monopolistic practices.
Gail Slater, nominee for Assistant Attorney General, dodged direct questions about the JetBlue-Spirit merger but hinted that under her leadership, the DOJ would take a more flexible approach—favoring negotiated remedies over outright merger blocks. She is commited to strong antitrust enforcement but also suggested that mergers may be approved with conditions, rather than being automatically denied.
The trump administration has a very "out with the old and in with the new" approach. They have every intention to replace agressive regulators with less stringent ones. This will be good for a proposed airline merger.
Airline mergers are not off the table, but they will likely require consent decrees and concessions to move forward. Airlines will still face scrutiny, but they will find it easier to negotiate approvals under the Trump administration than the Biden.
Maybe this is exactly what Southwest and jetBlue are setting up to do right now or maybe not. I think though that jetBlue is setting itself up to be attractive to several different airlines, whether it be a partnership or merger/acquisition.
Only time will tell.

JetBlue talking to ‘multiple airlines’ about a new partnership
JetBlue Airways is talking with “multiple airlines” about a potential new partnership after federal judges struck down two previous deals, the carrier’s president said Wednesday.
“If we find a deal that’s accretive, we’ll absolutely do it,” JetBlue’s president, Marty St. George, said at a Barclays industry conference.
A federal judge in 2023 ruled the New York airline’s partnership in the Northeast with American Airlines was anticompetitive, while a different judge last year blocked JetBlue’s plan to acquire budget carrier Spirit Airlines, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year.
JetBlue representatives didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
JetBlue, which marked its 25th year of flying this month, has been searching for partnerships and deals to grow, contending it must do so to better compete with larger carriers like Delta, American and United.
St. George said a potential tie-up would benefit the company’s loyalty program, noting that customers say the frequent flyer points on JetBlue are not as strong as those of the big three U.S. carriers.
“Given that we really don’t have full global earn and burn, I think to be able to add that to our network would be very, very helpful,” he said.

I need to use more emojis cuz the mention of "unlimted cookies" was too vague in my seriousness of my post.
Sure I have no idea what's going to happen and hope it's not Southwest, only because they work too hard. My 17.67 hours a month will be just a thing of the past.
At least we'll get the 3-2-1 (praying emoji here).
What I will guarantee, when and IF there's a merger, Trump will be in a ceremony of some sort. Won't be just a remark from the oval office, an actual event. I will wager a beer anywhere in N.E. So when the announcement and event occurs, bid a PWM,MHT, BOS overnight and I'll come and claim my beverage.
