Sure, let's flesh this out. What does this mean? UA will dump capacity on JB routes and then...? JB goes Ch11? Restructures and comes out with lower costs and/or a new partnership with XYZ airline? I don't see how this would help the long game for UA to "put the screws" to JB? A Ch11 filing for JB would be the end of any association with UA and opening the door for all sorts of possibilities with other carriers.

I hope it works out well for my JB brothers, but hard to make a case of inviting one of the world's biggest airlines (and competitors) into your biggest hub with out a promised nuptial is akin to giving away the milk for free. Sorta like selling a house on a land contract basis. Almost all the risk is born by the owner of the real estate. Best of luck and here's to a profitable 2026!

Thanks for the well wishes. Id like add that none of us know if there is more to this agreement than what has been announced. Those who know would be under NDA’s. For all we know, this partnership could lead to a full blown acquisition. So we shall see, but thanks again for the well wishes.

I believe the short term end game for the company(the end of JetForward) is all designed around joining an alliance. The longer term goal of being setup in a position of value for a merger. Lounges are one more step in that direction. Domestic first being the next crucial larger step.

I think you could argue, or suggest, United is getting in bed for slots. “Put the screws” is a bold suggestion. Jetblue is its own worst enemy and United realizes this. Jamie Baker stated Jetblue has a better chance at a merger than bankruptcy and with those merger chances seeming less likely United is acutely aware of how to get the milk without buying the cow. United can negotiate more JFK slots particularly if Jetblue continues to reduce routes like AMS. You have to be honest and admit JetBlue is a “want” and not a “need” for most carriers.
I still contend Delta needs to keep Jetblue around, in some capacity, so that United can’t sweep in but as Jetblue continues to shoot itself in the foot there is only so much they can do. A Ch.11 filling would end any association with United but Kirby stated he wanted the association largely due to Paisly which is wholly owned by Jetblue. Live TV was sold by Jetblue for close to $400 million to raise revenue while maintaining the partnership. There is no reason Jetblue wont sell Paisly as well.

Could care less. Barclays paid for it all, and pays for the opex. If it succeeds or fails its no hit to us either way.

That said I toured it on Monday while passing through. Thought they did a really good job. It's markedly different, and better, than the usual DL/UA lounge schlock. Plus a little more exclusive so that should drive people to want to be in the buckets to go.

They still can't go in unless they're on a revenue ticket. But agreed, having seen inflight in other lounges, in uniform, with their IDs on is really cringeworthy.
