Commuting is easy honestly. I was Boston based mid seniority on 190 and was holding all commutable trips.

Be careful there doc. I left jb a few years over the many deficiencies this airline failed to improve, the reserve schedule of shifting from long call to short call on short notice, poor compensation, benefits compared to peers. My health insurance was so expensive that I switched back to tricare under my reserve status in the military. The 4 days of redeyes and day trips mixed together, not sure if they still do that?
In no way could I ever recommend working at jb. Maybe the place has changed since Barger left and getting a union is probably an improvement to the direct relationship that existed. The pilot group was great, but ultimately I blame myself for not doing more homework on jb before I accepted the job. I bought in to the blue juice that was sold to me at a career fair and that is on me. Bottom line, do your homework before you go anywhere.

“Doable” is something that’ll vary from person to person. For instance on your first day of reserve you cannot start until 10am, that would be manageable if you have a short, one leg commute. If your commute is a two-legger or on a weight-restricted RJ, then you’ll probably have a bad time. We haven’t seen the new LC/SC reserve system yet, so that’s a big unknown to how that’ll effect QOL, especially for commuters.
