Thanks. What are the +s and -s if you have to crash pad in JFK or BOS? trying to make up my mind what one would be the best for ease, cost, commute and advancement.

Where are you commuting from? Airbus or ERJ?
If you are a Florida commuter and Airbus then definitely go to JFK.
If you are on the ERJ go to Boston (bigger base)

I'll speak for the Airbus, but the flying is better in Jfk. Jfk has more variety, more Caribbean, faster movement and more days "in the green" so you can move your schedule. If you go to JFK get a pad in Kew where you have access to a shuttle to the airport, plenty of restaurants and a bunch of places to grab a cold one. Plus quick city access via the LIRR.

I live half way between Bos and JFK, I've been based in both bases... I prefer JFK.

Default Jfk 320 reserve life

I know this would be just a guess, but how many days a month do you think a new hire FO 320 JFK would be on a short call reserve...5+ days - or is it just so "random"? How long do you "guess" reserve would be JFK...a year or more, or less than a year?

Worst-case scenario (no PRL days or LCR): 18 days. You would have 12 days off in a 30 day bid and 13 days off in a 31 day bid.

Of the 18 days on in a 30 day bid month, how many would you guess would be short call? (What is PRL?) thanks

Depends on staffing and the days you chose to work (I.e. Weekends vs. weekends off). That said, I average 6-7 days of long call a month, while others get 1-2 max.

Think of long call as a gift. Don't ever expect it, just enjoy it when it comes! PRL( pre-release) is the same.

Also, beware of the trick long call... You get LCR then they call you at midnight for a 1400 show or transition to SCR.

You should average less than 40hrs a month on RSV.

Goodluck

I meant, worst case scenario 18 days of short call.

PRL is a pre-release day that is paid. So instead of 18 on, it's 17 on.... Or 16 on at most.

To put it another way, you are guaranteed 12 off in 30 day bids, 13 off in 31. You can get up to 2 more days off with pay if staffing is adequate. Worst case scenario, you will do all your days on as short call. There is no limit.

On a month of reserve I did recently, I sat 16 of 17 reserve days short call. I received one out and back. As a commuter, that meant I spent 1/2 of my month in the crash pad.

Can anyone offer a load check for JetBlue 1036 sju to stt 5/18? It would be my wife and I so we really only need one seat. I assume the cockpit jumpseat would be available on that route since it's US territories.
