I'm on my second year of using JB insurance. It's myself, my wife and my 1 year old. It's not good insurance by any means but with the seed money and FSA I haven't had to use any additional money to cover anything. Not major medical claims though, that could certainly change things.

+4th.

Use the wifes plan.

Friends don't let friends use jb health care if you can avoid it.

My wife's insurance is worse than ours, so we use JB.

You seem to be the exception to many rules.

Here's to better healthcare in the future.

Did I read right that you have to run a 26 mile marathon to get the full seed money?

No....

You get 800 automatically (for family, 400 for single people). Plus another 800 for Healthy Rewards. There is way more than $800 worth of healthy rewards to choose from. Most are quick and painless.

No- you have to say that you've run a marathon (or half) to get the full wack. There are multiple things to check off and it's the honor system. With the seed money, Im nothing out of pocket in 20 months, but we're a healthy family with just preventative visits as well as minor stuff.
Anything major costs you big- Birth/illness. An ER visit is 300.00 immediately.
I would say it's cheap to have, but expensive to use so it's basically a major medical plan. (Disaster insurance)
Please correct me if Im wrong here guys. My wife handles this stuff.

Default Going with the wife's medical (99%decided)

Thanks for all the input...will hope for a better JB coverage in the near future, but for now it seems to be better on my wife's - all kinds of doc visits are copay only and the other stuff is 20/80. With kids we are at the docs a lot!

Just to add fuel to the fire here. We are on the Blue Plan. My wife has insurance available through her company but it is much higher cost and structured almost identically to the Blue Plan at JB. We are one of those families with a serious health issue, and we do plan to pay out the full amount each and every year.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and say the insurance is terrible as that's a matter of opinion and experience. And I am also thankful to at least have the ability to pay for it. But to say there are not greener pastures and that it is not a burden would be untrue. You definitely have to consider that when considering coming here.

Otherwise it is a great place and I am really happy here.
