I guess it really is about perspective and personal experiences. I'm about to join the JetBlue team and I'm thrilled. This new facility looks absolutely amazing. Compared to the tent I stayed in during my last 6 month deployment overseas, I honestly can't think of one negative thing to say. As far as companionship, again perspective as all who deploy know well. It's not near anything? Again, perspective. I just used google maps.....I don't see the problem. Super impressed JetBlue! Oh, and we are only talking about 6 weeks right?

Thanks for your service, and welcome to JetBlue. Although it's fine to try and add perspective, let me share where most of us are coming from with our distaste for the change.
Compared to what was the norm for new-hires, it's definitely NOT an improvement. Previously, we used one of several extended-stay facilities on Semoran Blvd with individual kitchens in each unit, typically free breakfast daily and the occasional evening meal/manager's reception, walkable to several restaurants/bars etc. Wives/significants specifically invited to attend the new-hire party the night before as well as days 1-2 of orientation. This is going to be 6-weeks of total blue immersion unless you have wheels. Nothing at all in walking distance, kitchenettes in "common areas" so you can enjoy AO/GO highschool dropouts swiping your stuff from the fridge, wives/significant others no longer welcome to attend orientation and specifically forbidden from your quarters. I just hope recurrent and transition crews won't be staying there. The newhire FAs and AO/GO agents are all gonna think it's "fabulous" I'm sure.

Yes, but in keeping with the finest tradition of our typical Inflight hiring demographic you can be sure that after the first few weeks "Dick and Steve" will have shared the room before you. Happy Jetting!!

While it may be better deployment this seems like a big concession to our training model.

I agree with gmasteriii. After life In the military on deployments to some sh****a$$ locations AND experience as a regional pilot, JetBlue's accommodations look very nice. Those who have "embraced the suck" before will enjoy their time during training. Those who have never experienced what I'm referring to will complain - it's all about perspective.
