Yep 100%. You have no idea until you get to class. I was told at 37 I would be one of the oldest in my class. Ha not even by a long shot.
I'm not trying to be a downer, but did you get on the E190 it's gonna be a long road of doing nothing but sitting in a crash pad away from home, but doing nothing.
I've been at a bunch of other airlines and never sat on resv doing nothing for months on end. I'm sure there are people here that can say I've been there, but I haven't.
In the busiest season for the airlines in the last 3 months I've flown a total of about 20 hours, which is awesome if you live in NY, if you don't it just sucks. Crash pad people getting mad because you basically live there (and I don't blame them) and try want you out. 2 hour call out so if your in queens your gonna need the whorl 2 hours during certain times of the day that is if you ever get called.
Line holders are at about 70 guys so if any open time comes up they take it and then you have 25 people on resv for maybe one trip a week. You get the picture.
The E190 and the A320 are like two totally different airlines (right now) at JetBlue.
I commute to NY knowing full well I'll do nothing for 5 days. It's not a whole lot of fun.

Get out of the pad! Get an xbox. Start a business. Take some classes online. Go explore NYC. What ever you do, don't go getting hookers and pick up their stash for them!
Sept October are always slow. The most I've ever flown on RSV was 42 hrs back in February of 09'. It's fly till you puke or pure boardom. Flying will increase come nov. Line divisors will go upto the 80s and 90s through March and guys will be banging out left and right. Don't worry, you'll get to fly the mighty 190 all you can stand.
With over 100 firm orders coming in the next 5-6years you'll move out of the kew soon.

We have a PS3 and I am getting pretty good at beating the 15 year olds in China on Modern Warfare.

Nice! Down in the southern bases it's a badge of honor to see how many days you can go with no calls. My best was 87. 117 has pretty much killed that train though.

Back to the sim? It's just a simple line check and you get another 50 days. This is jetBlue and nobody is coming after you on line checks so it's really not a big deal.
A buddy of mine hustled and asked for some sweet trips by calling chief pilots office and getting his 100hrs no problem. He had some awesome overnights on the beach.
I personally called my IOE Capt and asked him to buy me a trip. It was not an issue. It was a nice trip and I enjoyed another learning experience on the line. (You get rusty after 3weeks off)
I will say the 190 is staffed FAT right now. I'm not 100% sure but all (most) of the summer new hires went BUS.

Not to be a downer, but you could be at your regional still doing that.

I get 15 days off a month (2PRL days +13 contract) on top of that I get long call (14hrs) at the beginning of my 4&5 day blocks. So I stay home those days and the back end is commutable. I can normally be released around 1500 on the last day. I also am able to freely rework my awarded RSV and pick off days and move them so I can get blocks of 5 and 4 days off.
I commute on my own metal never missed a flight home or to work. We have a good commute policy, not awesome but what is in this industry ( don't even mention Delta I don't care)
I'm JFK and crash in Kew. It's great. I have my college buddy's in the area too at various airlines. We all wait until we are released ( I get released early 70% of the time and we head out and raise hell. At midnight on the weekend it gets busy in the Kew with all the airline people out an about.
I have always said I would love to do college again, this is pretty close.
When I only have two days off between RSV I fly to PR (on my own metal again) and kite surf...if I get long call on the first day, I spend it on the water in PR, on RSV , on a board, holding a kite, high on life!

But you're right. Having a line will be great once it happens but rsv is pretty chill and don't miss any days at home and like you get many LCR days. No complaints here.

How are you getting LCR days? How does that work?

I definitely agree it's better then the SS I came from that's for damn sure. I don't even so much care about flying the mighty E190, I would just like to spend a couple nights a week in a hotel room and not this pad.

in Kew?On the other side of the coin, try creating a 87 hour line with great trips like ABQ, 10 hour-three day ( on the Bus of course). Sure you do get out of the crash pad, but I'm getting tired of 12-13 days off and flying red-eyes ALL the time. I'll be bidding RSV soon just to take a dip into what the last few folks have written about.
p.s. Some video game competitors make more money than you and I combined...keep playing
