A friend did tell me that classes will continue through the sumner so successful June interviewees can expect to be in class around the fall.
I did NOT get an email first. I just got a cold call from the People Department (actually the same woman who interviewed me). The interview invite came at the end of that conversation.

So, probably a good idea to "check yourself" before you answer any call from an unrecognized NYC number!

Here is just one example...and it is one of many dealing with our current medical lack of coverage.
Say you are down in Lima on a layover...you break an ankle or worse. You go to the doctor...at check in they say we don't take BlueCross but we do take cash...3000$ plz. What if the procedure was 10K or who knows. It's happened and it scary thinking about the what ifs. Most of us ignore it but when this happens to someone you know it really opens your eyes. There should be a forum just on this topic with all Carriers.

Just a random question here..is it true that some of the JB training instructors have never been line pilots for the the company??

It's a mix.

I can only speak for the Airbus but most who weren't are retired 320 guys from various other airlines. One was the system chief for USA3000 for example. Couple ex USAir, an ex United I've come across.

Honestly I haven't really come across much difference between the line guys and pure instructors...Like I said most the pure-instructors are really seasoned guys from other carriers (20+ yr careers), not guys Flight Safety sent over who just finished a 320 course and never flew a line.

This JB medical coverage does not cover international? Would you eventually be reimbursed by BC/BS???

Very true. JB hires instructors and then promises them a line interview after 2 years. For 2 years these guys are teaching you how to be a JB pilot without ever touching a JB aircraft. Some of them don't even have any real hours in type!

It's a huge issue to me. I am a huge proponent of having line guys teach, or at a very minimum be the ones giving check rides.

Not sure why this is a big issue for you. Have you ever had a problem with an instructor? And then did you cross reference the seniority list? I don't even know if I've got a line guy or street hire. Never had any issues. They've all been great.

It is an issue. In transition I have guys teaching me that were hired two months previous and never touched an Airbus. These guys are preaching how to do things on the bus and "this is how it's done on the line" they have no clue how JetBlue works especially how line pilots do things

Yes. During initial 190 training I had a guy who had never touched a JB airplane and only a 190 in the sim trying to teach us how to become JB190 pilots. Coming to JB with a 170/190 type already it was extremely obvious he had never been in the airplane!

Most of the guys it isn't a huge issue but having the line experience gives the instructors a line perspective, which is incredibly important especially on check rides.

I hope in our contract we can get line pilots as school house check pilots at a minimum. I would prefer to bring in all the school house guys to the seniority list and have them rotate in and out of the school house. Maybe 2 months in, 2 months out. Something like that.

I don't need an instructor to teach me "how it is on the line". I can handle that part. I need them to teach me "how it is on the checkride". For that, someone who spends the vast majority of their time in the schoolhouse is great. I'd love to see them on the seniority list or at least see the jobs made more available to anyone already on the list. I'm sure there are plenty of current pilots who would like to be home every night.
