Default New Hire Timeline

I was wondering if any recent hires could answer ...

What is the ballpark timeline from interview to "Phase 2" notification to "You're Hired!" to starting class in Orlando? ... 3 months?

Interview to Phase 2 notification: 13 days, + 24 days for Class Date, + 15 days Class start. Total from Interview to JBU = 52 days. Well worth the wait!

This is much better than the 14 months I waited interview to class date. I don't see that wait time anytime in the near future...either way totally worth it! Goodluck to all

Well I'm in a little bit of a pickle. Once my current 142 employer (the really expensive one for type ratings) got wind of the fact I was interested in returning to line flying instead of teaching (paperwork requests started showing up) they suggested it just might be best to resign now.

Although I have the quals for the majors (and paperwork in) my lack of currency/recently was a concern for me. I've been in current role (teaching) for 6 yrs. As a result I feared that I'd have to go to a regional for a bit to correct the recency issue. Threw a resume towards one I had contacts at and got a class date. Got a JB interview a week later. Did the JB interview the 25th of FEB. Have a class date with regional X. Waiting on phase two yea or nay. Fear would be to turn down said class date, and wait a long period of time with no income for JB. Or worse yet, get the no-go from Blue. Thoughts?

You should know within 2 weeks after your interview if you moved to Phase II or not. I would try to delay the class with the regional and wait for JetBlue. Call the regional and tell them you need to delay for personal reasons. If they don't give you the option then no big deal, the regionals are dying for pilots.

It is a gamble, but one I would personally take.

Regionals are so hard up for pilots, I'm sure you can postpone one class date. If you need money during your holding pattern with JB, take the regional gig (not that they pay much) and head out when JB calls. Sorry to hear your current employer is not so happy.

[QUOTE=Sorry to hear your current employer is not so happy.[/QUOTE]

They're getting in the same boat as everyone else searching for people. New instructors are now required to sign a two year employment contract in exchange for a type rating (or a new type if you're teaching on something else). Once you no longer come in everyday and kiss the ring, you're dead to them.

I did defer one class and should get the JB phase two go/ng this week; and we should be fine floating for a bit but the spouse likes to see deposits in the checking account! I guess I'm just hoping there's no extended backlog to get a JB class date. Paperwork came back for regional gig in 2 weeks so no concern there. I'm just concerned if something in the interim would screw up employment records request? e.g. part time contract work, etc? Guess it's best to sit idle.

Mine was 13 days from interview to Phase II, 29 days from Phase II to "Your Hired" Class date, 28 days from Class date to Class.

Good Luck
