Who said he was hired? Being in phase two is not a job offer.

Recency has been a problem for a good bit of people trying to get here. These issues have been brought up AFTER interview. I know two personally.

I resigned from my job because my wife recently had a baby and has to go back to work, since she is the one bringing home the majority of our bacon. For the immediate future she is working nights, and 1st year regional pay doesn't quite cover over night childcare for 2 kids in diapers. Also, considering my regional airline is the lowest paying in the industry, and doesn't have a west coast domicile, I wasn't going to stay there long anyway. Like I said, I am fully prepared to go to another regional if I need to, but in the meantime I am putting my family first and taking advantage of the opportunity to stay home with my kids. Since August I have flown 200 hours in an ERJ, so I've got some time on my currency for now.

I am fully aware that being in phase 2 does not guarantee that I have a job, but this is the best move for us, right now.

Slim, congrats on the new addition! That's a reasonable explination and would guess there shouldn't be much issue. The issues arise when guys are voluntold to quit. Glad that's not the case. Were you prior military?

Have there been any cases of folks getting a class date and then having it "taken back" and/or cancelled? (and I'm imagining a scenario here where it's not a recency, dead hooker found in trunk, etc. issue with the candidate but rather a company thing) I was going to quit as soon as I had one, even if it was a month and a half out.

Yes, I retired from the Marine Corps a year ago.

As for what "the big dogs" are looking for, JB is where I plan to hang my metaphorical hat. I've had the opportunity to jumpseat on almost all of the legacies and JB, and I've seen some things. I am confident that JB is the place for me. It also helps that the Long Beach base is closer to my house than LAX.

Congrats. And thanks for your service. I'm sure you'll be good. Sorry the wheel s of the hiring machine move so slowly and unpredictably.

Fo the guy asking about hiring stopping. Last time that happened was 08'. Unless something catastrophic happens we must hire for the foreseeable future. Might not be 500 a year may only be 75-100.... But we gotta hire. When the sun comes up tomorrow I'll reevaluate.

This may be a long shot, but does anybody know who or how to contact the FAA about the ANDA form/info?? I checked with Sterling just now and it is officially overdue by several days over the 60 day max. What if it never comes through? It's not like JB is going to take a guy who they can't verify his FAA record!!

grrrrrr!!!

Not to be a downer to the new guys...but...JB has a history of over promising and under delivering in a few departments. Hiring numbers is one of those departments. I'm a 9 year guy and in 8 of those years they have missed their hiring forecast numbers, usually by a pretty large percentage.

Every year they come out with some ridiculous number for the next year. Recently we've been getting the 300-400 pilots/year number when we only have 10-12 deliveries. Anybody with half a brain knows it doesn't make any sense, yet they do it year after year. And people believe it year after year. Why do they do this? IDK. Just something to keep in mind, especially if you are in the pool wading.
