I've got a buddy who interviewed Sept 29, still hasn't heard anything. Not sure why I'm getting all antsy in the pantry.

No offense, but you guys thinking the wait is so long to "test" a newhire's desire to be at JB crack me up. Anybody who is swimming in the pool who doesn't have his/her apps in at the legacies/fdx/swa isn't too bright. Unless they live in a JB only base, why on earth wouldn't they be gunning for a better airline job? Serious question.

Lol, the fdx life isn't for everyone. In fact we have a 320 capt who quit fdx to come to JBU years ago. Everyone thought he was nuts, but he's happy. Some guys don't wanna fly 6 leg days on a 737 and have a 20 yr upgrade at SWA... Personally for me, UAL couldn't pay me enough to work there and the aa usa thing is a toxic work environment. I had my stuff in the DAL for years but the phone never rang. If they called today, I'd have a hard time going but it'd be a serious decision. Better isn't all about pay scale.

As for the new guys I agree, you'd be a fool not to have apps out everywhere. Take your pick given the opportunity, but better really is relative.

Your spot on about AA environment. Passed up flow next year to drive to work here. I also did a meet an great with ual Cp, commute to ewr for the next 35yrs? PASS! Couldn't be happier with the decision to come here.

A good response. Like I said, if waiting around for JB would prevent commuting, maybe. Swimming in a pool is not a guaranteed position. If a better paying, well run airline offered a class sooner, most would (should) take it.

To be honest, it would take a substantial amount of money to go back to commuting again. Also, I've bumped into many pilots not at legacy carriers that make more money in other jobs, and use flying as a side gig. They choose to stay at a certain carrier based on seniority, schedule, not commuting, etc. It all depends on each persons specific situation. I've met senior regional FO's who are married to neurosurgeons. Flying for them is just to get out of the house for a few days a week!

Who said people don't leave the pool?
I know for a fact they do, so what?
It's not some kind of test, it's just the process to get people here.

Not sure why a United wide body FO would care but it is what it is.

Some guys get on really fast some guys have to wait and during that time some go elsewhere and some leave when they are new hires and some leave after 5 years and some return from being furloughed (from your company and others)

It's a great hiring environment and it is up to JetBlue to hire and hold onto people but it may come as a shock to you but some people do want to work here.

No doubt JB isn't a bad place to hang your hat. And your right, it doesn't matter to me. Just bored, and perusing the forums. I have a couple of buddies trying to get hired anywhere so I was just digging around when I saw posts like this:

It certainly wasn't a dig at JB, just my opinion that it is a silly notion to think pilots should wait around in a pool to "gauge their desire to be at JB"
