Look, maybe you're right. As I said, I've never picked up an RSA but I'd like to understand specifically what makes you single them out. It seems to me that RSAs should be the LEAST offensive, guys are getting premium pay and they may not even fly - that increases average cost. Wouldn't the worse offenders be the guys that build up their line over 90 hours WITHOUT RSAs/VDAs etc.

Has the union specifically said in some email that we are short 4-500 pilots? Why is picking-up RSAs specifically a problem? Why not VDAs? or guys flying over 90 hour credit? or guys that don't bid enough vacation?

(Seems like if I drop my line down to 70 hours and then pick up RSAs, I'm doing more than anyone else in terms of increasing pilot costs and flying less)

Because we are in negotiations! Alpa can not tell us to not pick up trips, RSA, ect. It's illigal until self help stage. RSA are the quickest way to stop bailing out the company. Without them there would be mass cancelations and it would hurt their pocket book. It's the quickest way to let them know we are not happy with our current contract.

I've never picked up an RSA or done a VDA. But saying not to pickup one of those is like telling a Delta guy not to pickup a green slip (almost but not quite). Every airline contract has some sort of understaffing resolution. For 3 or 4 month a year we need to be better staffed, I get it. But try sell it to the guys who likes 90+ hours of credit a month. Thankfully they are here, so I don't have to be.

You are a voice here I trust, sorry if I embarrassed you. Do you honestly believe ANYONE but management knows if management will move significantly toward our position end of this year beginning of next? Why not now?

Honest questions, sorry if I have been too aggressive.

First, sorry for being so aggressive. Second, this is far from my first rodeo and from experience management controls the pace of negotiations progress 99%. So I find a proclamation that significant progress being made 6-9 months from now VERY suspicious. I have had a front row seat in this process before, and union guys would not normally know whether this was true or not.

I think from this point of view, you may understand.

I fully expect the company and the Knobs to start up in about 6 months about what the rates would have been with out the obstruction of the ALPA.

I can't recall outside of a major snowstorm or hurricane sandy the last time RSA flowed for a solid two weeks like this. It's amazing. This is simple everyday summer weather we are dealing with here. They only staffed for 100% blue sky days and 1 day of thunderstorms in the NE sets them back for a week.

I've also noticed that a majority have been for CAs...gee....you think? Guess that's what happens when your CA upgrades the last several rounds have been almost non-existent.
