Would you think of going back to a regional? Serious question. I find this place much better than the regionals I've worked for. BUT, that's just me. I also live in base, which I never have before. Night and day....

Saying all of that; the reserve system here bites, the people I fly with are great (vast majority), the trips vary greatly (great to crappy). I do my job and go home. I don't fly extra (my days off are mine), don't don the blue gloves, etc.

The fact you're comparing us to a regional is the very problem with this place. How about you compare us to the majors and legacies and then make a decision.

STAY AWAY FROM JETBLUE!

That's precisely the problem. This place is like a regional with Airbuses. Regional work rules, regional mentalities.

I'd say regional pay, but I can list a number of regionals who have better first year compensation than JB.

Perspective. The disillusioned on this site have lost it.

I think most just want applicants to not apply here so we can get a CBA quicker, which I totally understand that strategy. If not, then yeah maybe a little disillusioned.

I was replying to someone else's comment. Once I get on with a legacy then I will compare the 2. I know we're not at the legacy level, just like we're not at the regional level.

Just one question since you seem to be the guy who keeps this up.
You were hired what April/May 2016? Did you not know any of this at the interview? The pay has not changed except for our 8 wait make that 2% raise. I just can't figure out why you even took the time to interview here and better yet accept the job.

Again I am not defending blue but I grow tired of guys like you screaming about stuff because you either didn't do the research or thought it was a totally different airline.

The facts were all out there you just had to find them.

Btw don't forget the mighty 190 we are the regional side of JetBlue :)

For the record.

If you can get on at the big 3 and you want to go there I would totally skip jetblue. If you are here at the bottom of the list and under 40 and not happy or want more I would totally be applying to the big guys.

Again JetBlue is what it is, and it's a pilots market.

I don't think that will work for a few reasons.

1. Regional applicants are coming from somewhere far worse than here. Good luck getting them to not apply to see if they can at least use us as a stepping stone.

2. People on the outside can see through the BS.

3. There will always be enough applications with the bare mins. JetBlue might have to lower the competitive standards if this campaign is successful, but there are plenty of people with 1,500 hours and an ATP who want to skip the whole regional side of the industry.

Perhaps they are disillusioned because they thought they were coming to an airline that valued and respected its pilots. Perhaps they thought they were finally breaking out of the regional airline-style job to one where they would be treated like the experienced professionals they are, and compensated as such.

Where their colleagues were also respectable professionals who didn't rationalize, "well, we can't afford to be paid as well as other airlines because we have to compete with them" like I heard so many times during negotiations at my regional airline. Never thought I'd hear it here too.

I was wrong. Now I suppose I'm disillusioned as a result.

Obviously not. However I was treated better and had much better work rules at my regional. That is saying something. I will take job security any day of the week though. I'm saying that IF somebody is in a position to hold out a little longer for that legacy job, do it. I honestly thought I would come here and settle in. I didn't think I'd be paying to keep my airline apps account open and going to job fairs.
