Last time I asked for United and was given direct flight on Delta. Since being hired in 2016, I racked up 120,000 miles on Delta. I've spent all those miles since on business class upgrades since they became resistant to Delta. At this point I don't care which airline they use(except American, never American), just put me consistently on one so I can have a status with them.

I don't know if they can or can't, but they haven't done that. If you apply for an FO position and tell them you are a sim instructor, it's been rumored that it gets their attention. We have CA's that are retiring, and rumored that some are being asked if they want to be sim instructors.
