Planning on applying to see what happens, but realistically, what are my chances at getting the interview?
Kalitta weighs internal rec very heavily. Definitely apply!

Sorry that me wanting to find a source of income during a downturn and possible unemployment hurts your feelings. Just putting feelers out there, that’s all. Guess I’ll just go broke and default on my mortgage because you’re so insulted that I think Kalitta is the best of the ACMI carriers and I’d actually want to work there.
If I may play devils advocate, in a bizarre universe when a Freight dog has been furloughed or found himself or herself without a job, has any "major" carrier accepted a mass exodus with open arms as a harbor during turbulent storms? I think not! Yet the arrogance seems to flow very strong from the other side. I believe it was not a month a go a regional was given the opportunity to interview under preferrentail circumstances and the carrier told the ACMI to pound sand out of spite from the union. Some have made their bed, maybe they should lie in it a little while.

It's always like that isn't it? Pilots always measure from their current seat and terms, it is only during hard times that people realize that our existence in this paid hobby of ours is fragile to say the least.
But there are some that even during downturns feel "special" those are the ones that feel a sense of entitlement because they read an interview gouge and made it at the bottom of the pile at some carrier and that gives them a sense of validation of their superior skills and qualifications.

Just go back on this site 6 months ago and see what some folks were saying about Spirit, Swift, Easter 3.0 and the ACMI's Now they are angry because these same carriers that are way below their superior airmanship skills don't call them for an interview!

This business dishes out humble pie in large portions!

The FO's I've flown with the past three years that are junior to me, have been extremely well experienced. 20,000 hour RJ CA's, expats who came back to USA who were CA's flying in India or China, A380 CA's from Emirates, 777 check airman from Etihad, actual doctors, chief pilots, DO's, etc. Plenty of military guys, some business guys, lots of life long 135 freight dogs.
Just observational data that I can offer.

Is anyone else looking forward to the demise of the Job Fairs, scam mainline flows, Ab-initio programs or the hiring websites like AirlineApps.com or PilotCredentials.com that have sucked money from well-qualified, hungry applicants? I think their time has run its course. Hope they choke on some humble pie too.

They won’t feel it until your year-long subscription ends. Oh well...

Five years ago, you may of been the only person to show up to interview at Kalitta, with the previous contract. Many colleagues would say, "I'll send an app in after they pass the new contract". That's all fine and dandy, but none of my colleagues were smart enough to realize they would no longer be competitive for the job once it did pass. The pilot job market might as well be the stock market. You need to spot that diamond in the rough before everyone else does.
Maybe I'll get a lot of flack for saying this, but I think Atlas is that diamond in the rough right now once the management team removes their heads from their asses. The stock price is low so getting in will be easier than K4.
