Home Airport Question
Hello,
I've read all the K4 info I can find but I still have a question about the rules for traveling to work. Is it permissible to do a 2-leg commute to work or do you have to live near a major airport that will accommodate a single-leg commute?
I presently live in a small, rural town that has 4 daily flights to SLC and 3 to Denver. Will the company pay for this? Or would I be responsible for getting myself to the larger airport?
Thanks for addressing this, I am trying to figure if I should pick a better place to live or let the kids finish school where we are.

Headset plugs
What type of headset plugs does the B747 fleet use, i.e. twin plug, 5 pin XLR, 7 pin XLR, or 6 pin LEMO style or does it vary aircraft to aircraft? How many hours of use do average per month on your headsets as far as battery life relates? Are ANR headsets preferred for intercom usage? David Clark passive headset user.
Thanks
Thanks

A friend had a little personal experience with this. The K4 contract says your resident airport must have sufficient 121 air service to provide competitive airfares and frequency of flights. You might the see the problem here. One man who is not well liked at the company gets to determine what airports meet this criteria. I know other people use airports with a similar number of flights as your airport but it is not clearly defined.

Invest in a good ANR headset. The 74 is not as quiet as you would think and we have a couple that for some reason it sounds like you are sitting by a whistle kettle!! The company headsets (apart from the ANR's in 2 aircraft), are dollar store telex's and I can tell you that the amount of missed or wrong rebacks from guy's using them are annoying and common.
Seen a rise in, and I use, DC Pro-X. Good noise cancelling, BT and comfortable for the long legs and not head clamps like some others.

DC ProX may be the best.

I have considered the new DC ProX or even the new Bose Proflight and Clarity Aloft Flex. Have you flown with anyone that had either of those? The main drawbacks I hear are price for the Bose, and tension on the bar to the top of your ear for the Clarity.
DC ProX may be the best.
