What are new hires doing for gap coverage health insurance policies, since Kalitta doesn't offer benefits until after 90 days? My wife doesn't work, so I can't get on her policy. All the ones that I've looked at so far are quite expensive considering the very high deductible and copays. She's a five year Cancer survivor, so we worry about catastrophic illness recurring.
Thanks

Just curious as I’ve recently hired with another ACMI. Does your company buy the bare-bones cheapest that meets the contract with stops in who-knows-where, or do they generally pick up the tab for the nonstop, big-name carriers (ie LH/DL/EK, etc.).

You can retroactively buy Cobra up to 60 days after you are notified you are eligible. Also a gap in coverage if you are worried about that is defined as 63 days. So you quit ASA Jan 1 but you started K4 Dec 1. K4 coverage will kick in Mar 1st. ASA mails you the COBRA crap Jan 14th. You now have 60 days to sign up for that. So you get super sick Feb 15th you then elect COBRA coverage and pay the 1400 or so a month ( the paperwork will tell you how much it is) retroactively and you have your same old coverage you had before until K4 kicks in.
**Disclaimer** I only used ASA as a generic airline and meant no ill will towards any who may have been associated with this organization in the past

It depends. We do have a stipulation in the contract that we will not fly on any carrier that is banned in the EU, so that knocks out a lot of the riff raff. You will take some weird ones once in a while like Air Croatia or Shanghai Air, but for the most part it’s the big ones. As for non stop, we fly out of cargo hubs, so there aren’t usually non stop flights from there. Expect to connect in a pax hub, and then 1 leg to your destination (unless it’s another weird location).

How would it work if you lived near CVG? Would you start/end your tour there very often, or still mostly travel? Could you pick up more hours by being based in CVG if you didn’t have to travel? Am unfamiliar with this kind of operation. Thanks in advance.

However lately they aren’t using that list, and instead are just posting the available trips and making it a free for all. The Union isn’t amused.

I'm curious as to why that gave you reason to answer with the angry emoji? If the only reason you want to come to Kalitta Air is for the schedule that the 767 operates I suggest you do some research on the ACMI segment of the industry. Just because an airframe does a particular type of flying today does not mean it will be doing it tomorrow. If you are in love with the current overnight cities be aware that they can change with very little notice. If you believe that because the 767 does not currently have ETOPS you will be staying in CONUS you might be in for a surprise tomorrow. If Connie can make money putting a 767 in Trashcanistan flying radiated camel dung to UmBukaFucu' you can bet your next paycheck somebody will be doing 16 days in Trashcanistan. If you think Kalitta is a career stop for you and you get hired next week into the 747 or 777 you only need wait out the seat lock and then you will be able to bid for the airframe of your dreams. Just trying to understand your post.
