I'm used to my roller board, for 4 day trips. But not only do you guys fly for longer trips, you might be in the Arctic one day and in Hawaii or Fiji or wherever a few days later……..
Also.. does Kalitta ever get to Australia? Flightaware never shows all the flights, I don't think.
We have occasional flights to OZ. Packing. I plan on doing laundry at least once a pairing. I carry three pilot shirts, (they can last a few days since you can take them off in cruise, as many socks and underwear as you need. Two polo/casual shirts, two T-shirts, jeans or casual pants, two sets of work out clothes. And some things to wear on the plane including a fleece that doubles as a casual jacket. In warmer months or going to warmer locations I take a pair of shorts. In winter I trade the shorts out for a long sleeve T-shirt. There a probably a few other items I carry, but I pack the same year round so if its missing from my bag I notice. YMMV. Food luck.Originally Posted by Mr Rumbold

I have a couple questions. Sorry if they have been covered before but I didn't see them. What is Check airman over ride pay? And is there extra pay for secret squirrel type flying. PM me if you want. Thanks.

Check airmen make their usual hourly rate + an additional $15 an hour because they're usually stuck teaching and not just crew dogging it.Originally Posted by RezRunner

No on secret squirrel stuff. However there is additional pay in hostile areas. 4 hours at 150% above guarantee.
For those who might be interested. Interviews starting again today. Its a two day process now... go figure. Not sure how many they are interviewing each week but they have sim time set aside for the next few weeks at least. My guess is they would like to hire between 75-100 this year.

I just flew with the Chief Pilot, he felt we would need to hire 100 guys this year. In addition, another check airman I’m currently flying with thought we would need anywhere between 125 to 150 given the number of guys that are leaving the company.
Does Kalitta require you to get yourself to the interview or do they get your travel? Hotel again on my dime or theirs? Just curious.

You get yourself there, they pick up the hotel.Originally Posted by Walkeraviator

I think with the new pay increase etc., the exodus may slow right down. With the fleet increases planned for this year I think 125 is probably realistic. Be interesting to see if the school house can keep pace!Originally Posted by ex402dvr
