How are we going to compete??

ohhhh young grasshoppers....
in the 80s the threat was Continental and Peoples Express. and a long line of other "threats" followed...
United tried to fight back with Shuttle by United - which was Ted way before Ted.
History repeats . Threats come and go.
The real threat - to the current operation, rpm's, rasms, and pilot contracts - is that DA and AA take even more of UA's premium passengers ... and this happens only if the current UA management chases the folks who want to go to Europe for $199....
Let's hope our new c suite folks don't fall for the "race-to-the-bottom" executive direction...

1. I think ALPA should push to represent them.
OR.
On a separate track, if that's not desirable...
2. Tell all ALPA carriers not to hire their pilots
Make no mistake about it. Corporate leadership in all US Airlines love this. They see NAI as putting downward pressure on US pilot wages.
ALPA blew this, and I am very disappointed in ALPA.

You wont. It will be a shift in business model. The majors will suvive this but after much turmoil. When its all said and done wages and bennies will need to up a NAI or down with competition. The new guys dont remember how good it was pre 911, just like those in the 80-90s heard the stories of the 60s-70s. Save your money times are good this will change things over next 10 yrs.

How do you represent someone who is under contract with NAI but actually employed by OSM Aviation?
"OSM Aviation, on behalf of Norwegian, are now looking for Captains to operate on Norwegian Boeing 737 aircraft.
Successful applicants will be employed by OSM Aviation, based at Providence Theodore Francis Green International Airport, RI (KPVD) or Newburgh Stewart International Airport, NY (KSWF) flying the Norwegian B737 MAX on our new trans Atlantic operation."

I'm hoping that we get short enough on pilots that those wages are laughed at by all self-respecting pilots and/or the US gatespace/slots at major airports makes it nearly impossible for carriers such as NAI to survive.

Interesting. Which leads to my next question. What is to prevent their contract from not being renewed if they join a union?
