Maybe it's a little "to soon". I didn't know the guy but I'm sure he was a good dude. I probably could work on my understanding a little better yet matters that involve kids are very sensitive to me. The idea of two parents shooting up in the bedroom with kids outside is just to unbelievable to comprehend.

May they rest in peace.
Not trying to jump on the bandwagon here but as hard as it may seem if you saw your own brother or someone close to go through an addiction you would not feel the same. With many of these prescription synthetic opiates the doctor has someone on them post surgery before they are in a cognitive state to make that decision. If you are truly interested in more information PM me.

Post of the year. The same vultures show up when a guy bends metal.

I'm more of a "oh but for the grace of God guy," personally -- but that's just me.

Exactly. Ex died 10 years ago of the same thing. She's been arrested for drug possession. She quite possibly poisoned him. Suicide too? Maybe. My guess is she's been to the edge and back so many times it's blurry where the edge actually is and this time crossed it.

My heart goes out to their kids and family. What a terrible tragedy.

My Ex-wife is an addict. I give no quarter to folks that put their own personal wants ahead of their children. Even the addiction experts recommend 12 step programs which, just like some of you folks, absolve a person of personal responsibility for their actions.

Here's another case from yesterday of a parent putting their wants ahead of their childrens' needs (lots of drugs but no heat or hot water):

Jut say no.

I for one am well aware of how addicting some of these things can be, so I would never even try them, not once.

Some of this stuff is that bad...first time and you're hooked for life, and nothing in life will EVER be as good as that experience. Even if you get clean or have the discipline to abstain you'll spend the rest of your days longing for it. I have extreme self-discipline, and am confidant I could walk away from anything...but I don't want my life overshadowed by a craving. Want to be holding your new-born child in your arms, going through the motions, but really just wishing you could shoot up instead?

I'll say the same thing in person, to anyone.

Not violating the sacred and holy respect for addiction, just saying stay the hell away from all that stuff. Stick with beer or mary jane (if you're not a pilot). Easier to manage, and you can recover from that.

I cannot even begin to imagine my kids getting up and finding mommy and daddy dead of an OD.

Some people listen to their doctors way too much. It's time to start prosecuting the scumbags who write these prescriptions and profit off these people. IT'S F%**%ing heroin, why in your right mind would you let somebody talk you into taking heroin in the first place is beyond me. This whole epidemic just shows how people in America have been so conditioned into not thinking for themselves and following orders like blind sheep.

Yes, you can get hooked the legal way too.

Had some major surgery when I was younger, a few days after I realized just how good the pain pills were and flushed them down the toilet. Motrin didn't work so good, but oh well.
