Coyote my friend, you don't work at NWA. With a 40% paycut, retirement frozen, 90 hour months, work rules that include 1/2 pay for dead head and no crew meals...I could go on and on. Bottom line, I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often. In regards to the MEC, they have told the company that we are being run at the red line and something has to give. The MEC had better support this pilot who snapped 100%. I personnaly would award him a medal!

Whatever the provocation, no excuses or mitigating factors can even begin to justify this type of behavior. Furthur, it only cheapens and demeans us all to talk favorably about chewing out TSA or Slaps on the Wrist, or Rug Dances in reference to a grown man in a responsible position not being able to control/compartmentalize his emotions. Like it or not, his actions reflect negatively on all the rest of us.
His employment should be terminated and NWA's MEC should support the action in the interest of the greater good of the pilot group.

Seems to me like it's a tad early to make those kind of statements.

No Reddog I don't work at NWA, but if a job was causing me that much angst and the only solution I could come up with was to rage to the lav mirror, I would simply quit/take a leave of absence. Enlighten me, if it's so bad, whats to lose? Lots of hiring going on for similar wages, better $ overseas. Why not be happy instead of a headline and the subject of ridicule. And if its about the good fight and saving your company, surely this is not a good start.
Fireman, likewise, enlighten me. What in your opinion would justify a member of your profession to behave like this?
Please, lets keep it civil; just my opinions, I'm not firing anybody. Just don't want people to start thinking my profession produces people who "Go Postal"

I understand what you guys are saying as far as NWA pilots being at the breaking point, but I really wonder if your all taking the point coyote is making seriously. If you walked onto a bus, train, taxi, or any other mode of transport and the driver was going off, how would you feal about it. I'd leave, just as I would have removed myself from the airplane in question.
Personally,I'd love to see us all keep thing's proffesional no matter what. Time will tell as to what exactly happened (CNN is not my prefference for factual reporting). This forum is great as it is actually populated by pilots so we end up with good informational threads. It takes me 25 posts on pprune before I get to something resembling reality. It's full of ridiculous rants and misinformation. This is not; I'd love to see it stay that way.

As others have tried to point out, 5 years is a long time to be under stress. Kids in college, house payments, vaporized pension, sure...those folks can just quit if they're not happy. Yeah, right.
Walk a mile in his shoes.
