With that kind of attitude, I’m sure you’re a real peach around people with any kind of disability.

Well define special people . If it’s a truly special person of some sorts I ll give my seat up in a heart beat . However a fat person who’s BMI is just wayyyy over there correct index isnt special . They are just overweight!! That’s it . And we as a society are starting to be scared to call out someone who’s weight is affecting other people . Esp in the US.

I agree they are cramming more seats in airplanes , but that doesn’t excuse fat people for causing discomfort of others.

And I’m not talking about a fellow a little overweight from sucking down too many beers . They aren’t causing the problems . The larger people who are boarder line obease and pre-diabetic are the problem. And the rate of people in that category Are growing fast.

My BMI is well over the perceived (based on outdated actuarial charts) “correct” index. From years of football and weight lifting. Despite my 9% body fat I’ve got to listen to the sleep apnea lecture at every medical because my BMI categorizes me as obese. Damn those biceps. My shoulders extend past the seat. My bigger beef is sitting in the middle seat while the two skinnies on each side of me jam their elbows into my ribs - which do not extend past the armrest - because they’re so important that they have to incessantly use their laptops the entire time on a three hr flight. I’ll wedge between two bigs. But anymore elbow jams and it’s roid rage (joking).

I agree BMI index is a very relevant term used but not accurate. My post wasn’t in reference for dudes that doesn’t apply for ..

Overweight /obese is the norm now. Fit people are the special ones.

So this is what it’s like to get old.

I just no longer understand societal norms... like having terms like “fat shaming”.

We are the only generation, heck the only species this world has known that puts feelings in front of common sense.

If you are so fat that you spill onto another person’s seat then frankly you should feel bad about yourself.

It’s not the 737. Same tube as a 727 and 707. Did we have these complaints 30-40 years ago? This is the airlines cramming more and more seats and at least 35% of the US population being obese.

Being fat is not a disability, it's a moral failing.
