All about perception I guess, it's way more comfortable than a CRJ but it's no Airbus. I'm a small guy and I find the 737 plenty comfortable.

Playing devil’s advocate here. Since the minitel is usually clasped to the jack ports, and the clasp has to be broken to take it down, doesn’t that lead one to believe that Boeing/united intend it to stay there? And if you use your own headset, should you not plug the minitel back in when finished, since the minitel is part of the aircraft equipment? Also, I suspect the company is not a fan of people breaking the clasp in order to plug in their personal headsets

Blaming a guy for not plugging the ship set back in, and they don’t notice until push, is like my wife blaming me for not putting the toilet seat down and sits on the cold porcelain at night. “Why did you leave the seat up?” “Well, why didn’t you check to see if it was down?”

I tried it on the 737, great ANR. The quietest setting was too quiet for me, medium ANR was just perfect. However I do not like the design on my head, and if you are doing anything other than two legs or ac swapping the whole setup up could be a hassle to take off and put away.

737 classic= earplugs in headset off at 18k, preferably ANR on gate to gate.
737 NG= Same as above, definitely a loud cockpit.
320/21, headset on to mid 20s.
Back on at 18k.
75/76 seems quiet enough for a PNR like the Telex 850.
I've always enjoyed the versatility of the QC25.
Please plug the company headset back in when you're done.

757...I wear the proflight the whole flight. Well except for when I’m eating or taking a whiz.

Well since none of my company aircraft have a voice activated intercom off at 180. Man I wish the powers at be would put in voice activated intercoms on our aircraft!!!

Left mine on.
1. Tough enough trying to understand the controllers in East Buttsakistan with it on. Without? Very tough.
2. Noise level in some was louder than others. I’ve already lost some of my high end hearing due to engine noise, with helmets/headsets. I’d rather not lose more because once it’s gone, it’s gone.

320... Bose QC25 on the whole flight. Works great, near zero clamp after 8hr block day. Using a cheapo shipset to remove at 18k or TOC is purely an ignorant cultural habit that continues due to discomfort with change and/or cheapness. Get with the times old folks

I wear my DC Pro-X from just before push to engine shutdown. I turn the inside ear all the way down and the outboard one almost all the way up. I fly everything from shuttle flying on the west coast to 6.5+ hour (in the winter) transcons and have never had any fatigue/clamping issues. I don't take them off when I eat, but do use the hand mic FWIW. In four years I've yet to have a CA complain about it.
