This could have come from the FAs. They sure could speak up and tell management it isn’t necessary.

FAs don’t dictate policy. Turbulence injuries are a huge focus point.

Didn’t thepointsguy write an article about delta having less turbulence than the rest of the airlines?

Yep. We only experience light chop.

As was asked, what is wrong with their jumpseat?

Wonder how Delta FAs would like it if we denied them a ride because I want 3 seats reserved just in case our FAs wanted them?
In this aircraft, where are the FA Jumpseats located vs. where do they spend most of their time? Answer - aft galley, where there aren’t enough Jumpseats for the FAs while working. They have to hustle through to the mid-cabin to get to their assigned Jumpseat near an exit door.

Where do they sit in the event of an emergency landing?

Where do they give their "Brace" commands from?

And how is a lap belt facing forward safer than sitting backwards in a 5 (or 4, I'm not really sure) point harness?

You are today years old when you learn that there are threats that involve sufficient time to prepare and threats that do not

But not a big enough threat to block off from revenue passengers.

We also don’t cancel flights when there’s a slightly elevated threat of slippery conditions. We must balance safety and revenue, not matter how much safety is job 1

This apparently is exactly the case. In the event unforeseen bad turbulence is encountered and they need to take their seats immediately there aren't enough JS's in the aft galley for the number of FA's that could be working back there. Of course if $afety was truly the main concern then these seats should be blocked from revenue pax as well, but ala$ they're not...

Protecting employees is a good thing, from both a personal perspective, as well as a money saving thing with reduced injuries, the lost productivity and the sick pay/ workman's compensation pay out.
That said, black helicopter time. Could management be showing concern for their FAs in an effort to counter union drive?
Does AFA Vote Hurts DALPA Negotiations?
