I have used 2 LW bags over the last 16 years and counting. I've recently sent both in for their first refurbishing, for less than $100 each (one had a cracked fender from a botched wheel removal described above). Let's look at the math. $450 into each bag over 8 years. Let's say I travel 14 days/mo, or 168 days/yr. 8x168=1,344 travel days. So, it has cost about $0.34/travel day, or $56/yr to use a LW bag. Now both are still in excellent, newly refurbished condition and ready to roll for many more years. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you can't haul your skivvies any cheaper than that with another manufacturer's bag.

My lw wheel axle broke after 1.5 year. It started to crack and I stopped trying to swap them out. It last like that for another 5 years but in that time frame 4 out of the million zippers busted including the main body zipper. I went to the strongbag and I love it. It’s been almost two years and it seriously looks brand new. My back appreciates the lighter bag as well.

Has anyone had issues with the strong bag handles? I’m thinking about trying one out but I’m suspicious of the collapsible handles, every bag I’ve owned with one breaks or jams. I’ve had LW for 10 years but the wheels are rusted in place now. I’ve already had it refurbed and was thinking of trying something new

My handle started giving out, and when I couldn’t find it online I called counter service. Turns out they don’t make it anymore, instead of giving it they’ll just give you your money back.

I bought a Travelpro FlightCrew5 22" Expandable Pilot Rollaboard for $173 delivered. Lots of room.
I'm doubtful it would take the beating associated with being on a 737 and constantly changing planes, but for 757 or wide body flying, probably good.
I've only had 5 months and no problems. If I can get 2 years out of it, that works for me. The cost to refurb my Luggage Works bag was ridiculously high.
So far, so good. I like it.

After years of hard use, my strong bag looks 10 times better than the LW bag with similar use. I've never lost so much as a zipper, there is no sharp edges, bent, or chipped painted frame. You won't be disappointed if you go with the strong bag.

The external pockets on the PNS/LW were nice to have for quick access to things like a rain coat, umbrella, etc. Also, the change pocket was a better design. When the bag is laying down, I don't like how it closes down whereas the PNS/LWS zipped up to close. But I guess if you don't keep change in it's not an issue. And the pocket on the back of the bag isn't nearly as spacious/utile.
The J-hook has to be constantly adjusted, seems loosen causing dragging of the additional bag. But the stock detachable feature is nice, wheres with LWS it's additional accessory.
Also, overall, it seems like I could get more in the LWS than the TP if need be.
