Easy. You just break down the minor league into A, AA, and AAA. Cargo carriers are obviously in the AL and passenger carriers in the NL. That’s the extent of my MLB knowledge.

maybe we can do a relegation scheme like English football leagues. If an airline fails to perform in the top 8, the entire seniority list is relegated to a lower league and top performers there move up.

I think that is called bankruptcy and merger. Sometimes takes time. Not perfect. We have some examples of regionals that closed their doors in this environment.

Speaking of baseball, I think pilots should start making curtain calls to pax in the gate area before and after a challenging flight. Like when there's bad wx or weight restrictions, the pilots should step out and take off their hat and hold it up in the air.
It's like at Yankee Stadium when someone hits a homer to tie the game and the fans are going crazy.

What are the chances that a national seniority list could be created for the pilots at the legacy carriers? Say if AA, DL, and UA all had ALPA pilots and we did not have have loyalty to one carrier.
Rather than us working for the the individual airlines like we do now, we would work for ALPA and be placed in the different airlines based on demand.
This could eliminate all the different CBAs amongst the carriers and create a larger union presence, making the whole thing more streamlined.
This would eliminate individual pride in the airlines. We all the know a pilot who says "I would do this job for free."

I think we should be able to buy people’s seniority when they’re retiring. What a damn concept. Sell it off to the highest bidder.
We could put some fences in place. Like you have to be over a certain age in order to bid. Also help out the retirees with three ex wives and no money.
Pure genius.

That's how it worked for taxi-cab drivers (before uber made them nearly extinct). Medallions (limited in number by the municipality) could be sold on the open market, and in some places went for hundreds of thousands $. The last generation to buy medallions probably lost their butts on that though (uber).

I know some countries didn't let uber run amuck (ex Germany).
