That's already a foregone conclusion for the most part.

They might even provide stability, and will likely behave to avoid antagonizing the US or international community. If the AF people support burkas and book-burning, leave them to it. They had their chance to stand up (we should of course assist those individuals who aided us, like we did with Iraqis, S. Vietnamese, Hmong, etc).

1(a). Landlocked.
1(b). They want/need the international community to recognize them eventually.
1(c). They want eventual access to the billions the previous AF gov has on deposit overseas.
1(d). They don't was us to come get them again.

2. Iran already has plenty of aircraft, including swarmable drones.
2(a). The taliban will not be giving any aircraft to Iran, oil and water.

Yeah, I am gonna disagree with you. But thanks for sharing your opinion with me. The Taliban is nothing more then what they have always been. A leopard can’t change its spots. It’s funny how the msm has moved on to the next big story. But if you dig around the internet you can find they’re still doing what they have always done. FUNKER530 has some on their highlight reel. Feel free to check it out.

What words have I put in your mouth? Did I ever say nuke em all and let god sort them out? Did I ever even imply that? When did I ever say that they would use this equipment to directly attack us in the U.S.? What I did say and what is happening is they are using our equipment to kill people that helped us during the war, that they can use this equipment to help the jihadist, they can give/sell the equipment to finance their jihad which in turn will have negative consequences for us and our allies. Being a military genius do you not agree those are real possibilities?

The fact that you have downplayed this saying that there will be no repercussions is delusional at best. We are already seeing the repercussions as Iran trucks in our equipment.

This whole thing started because you said this wasn't an unmitigated disaster. After seeing what has happened and diving in deeper do you still believe that?

I said the equipment in and of itself does not create an "unmitigated disaster". It's nothing that Iran or anyone else can use against us (might suck for rival warlords, ISIS, etc). It's low-tech export grade stuff that can be acquired on the open market. Yuo keep making it into something it's not. I suggest you get educated or informed at least if you want to opine on this kind of stuff. Yes, I understand that the opposition party here at home will make a great deal of hay out of this because most of their constituents can be led to believe that the Taliban will by lifting MRAPS across two oceans with blackhawks and caravans and enforcing sharia law in Moline and Peoria. That IS a political problem for our current regime, but it's not a national security problem.

Now we have two ridiculously long wars against insurgency that prove that our methods do not work. We seem to have forgotten the lessons of Vietnam and our country’s leadership employs the same methods today that they did 50+ years ago: they pursue a losing strategy and yet they continue to lie to us and tell us it is working. McNamara had secret memos where he knew we would lose in Vietnam, yet we continued to send our people there to die. The leaked transcripts from July clearly show our senior leaders imploring the Afghan President to lie about the situation. It is shameful that we keep repeating the same mistakes. Keep in mind that we don’t just pay for these wars with American lives, we are binding our grandchildren’s grandchildren to pay for them by working their entire lives in debt to the federal government. These are the kind of mistakes that cause countries to fail.

Meto, my faded, frayed sock/muse, likes tagging popular culture themes on posts to help navigate the forum abyss. After Houston discovers Apollo can't be recovered without a functioning CO2 scrubber in the lander, they adapt one from parts off the command module. As techs whine about insurmountable obstacles to their boss, he answers; "You keep telling me what you need. Here's what we got." Generations of juice yet to squeeze under shelter of this prize tree. Still no match for hard winters ahead split in two. https://youtu.be/9UamrfhPRmU
