People are inundated with countless PAs from the moment they set foot in an airport to the moment the airplane pushes back. Unless there’s a delay or some other unusual situation, they don’t need to hear from us on the ground.

I would wager the cost of idling, waiting for a gate/rampers/ramp congestion costs wayyyyy more than me running the APU to keep the airplane comfortable for myself and anyone who is in it. Fix me waiting 30-45 minutes for a gate once a trip and I'll start worrying more about my apu usage.

the problem is our new pilots are brainwashed with this nps nonsense and they think it’s their job to be a standup comedian/marketing marionette. It looks so cringy.

Absolutely. A very quick "welcome aboard", like 10 seconds long, is plenty. And why is it that some people will get on the PA halfway through a red-eye in order to give a full weather briefing at the destination? Just why? For the love of all that is holy, make your PA on guard instead and let your poor passengers sleep...
