No pension. End of discussion.

Plenty of old articles out there explaining how pilots lost their pensions. I believe Wall Street and some hedge funds convinced companies like UAL and Delta to put all pension investments in the stock market and ALPA signed off on it.

I also don't think we have a pilot shortage if airlines are still flying 9 legs a day between Greenville and Charlotte, Denver and Colorado Springs, Lansing and Detroit, etc ... Seems like if they wanted to free up some crews they could reduce the flights that people can drive.

they intentionally underfunded the pension to wash them all in bankruptcy

He's 71 years old. Living in Canuckland in the winter has gotta suck, especially when your bones already creak from age.

Our union got played. I don't blame management; theywere negotiating against our Forrest Gump union reps. It's our fault for not putting our union on a shorter leash.
My solution would be to do the Delta thing and replace our entire ALPA team from top to bottom. Repairing our union isn't a renovation job; it's a termite infested complete teardown and rebuild.

Absolutely a stupid move.
Life expectancy for one thing. Still rising in '58. Cooler cars too. Age degradation is weighed on a fitness scale. To shift the burden of ruling the formerly qualified unfit onto AME's & checking staff is hit or miss at best. Easy to conceive, very hard to execute.
