I'd give them 2-3 years, then either implement a science-based limit or remove the limit (no I don't think there should be no age limit).
The real problem with "science" in this issue is that no TWO pilots are alike. They are all a product of their genes, lifestyle, enviroments, and circumstances. Everyone can find an 80yr old who is as spry, witty and healthy as they were when they were 60, but can also cite someone who by 55 has shown signs of cognitive decline and/or health risks.

No matter what the limit is there are going to be risks in both directions. Some will be robbed of their career potential earlier than necessary, and some will have been allowed to work a few years longer than may have been ideal.

For all those who hated on the pension system, this was/is a benefit as once you are fully invested in it, working longer usually was almost counterproductive, much better to collect your pension and work as a golf course starter than stick around for essentially 1/2 the pay.

Delta and more airlines to follow slowly stopping hiring new pilots

no shortage but soon will be abundance of pilots

therefore age 67 should be a dead deal

lets hope no furloughs in the future

Let experience pilots retire

EVERYONE ELSE LOSES!

I agree 100 percent
To add to that, working pilots will subsidize their LTD
and a big percentage of them will be on LTD

Delta will reduce hiring to about 1100 pilots a year. That's a historically high number compared to anything other than the last 3 years.

May we all live in a time whereas hiring 100 pilots a month is seen as "slowly stopping hiring".....

You just invalidated his argument and you don't even know it. LOL

Interesting that his post is no longer here.

The word 'retire' is not in the lexicon anymore. "termination" is more apt and correct. Don't worry, I'll get out of your seat soon enough.
