And that’s why I’m happy to be retired and encourage no one to join.
The really sad thing is I can hear the briefer talking through these slides with a straight face.

The pendulum may have swung a little too far on this, but l don’t see the catastrophe others seem to here…it’s simple.
I (and maybe you) call my mom and dad “Mom and Dad.” But someone else may have been raised by grandpa, an uncle, be fostered, big sis, or may have two moms, two dads, or whatever. All this says is be sensitive to that and don’t push people away with language choices.
Similarly, forcing “Merry Christmas” on Jewish colleagues isn’t ill-intended at all, but often has a deleterious effect that doesn’t foster cohesion, but instead accents differences.
I remember when “women in combat roles” was going to bring down the services. I remember when “letting gays in” (in fact many had admirably served entire careers) was going to kill our military. Blah blah blah.
Soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen fight and die for their buddy serving with them. And when it works, our system can make best buddies of an Alabama boy who’s dad is a Klansman and an inner-city Oakland kid. It’ll all work out, folks, just be kind to each other and accepting of people different than you are.

God why do airline pilots care about this stuff? If my colleagues didn’t bring it up out of nowhere every rotation I’d have zero knowledge there were 30 different genders and people could apparently be born a man and become a woman. It has zero bearing on my life.

Cant speak for everyone, but some of my kids would like to follow in my footsteps, despite my discouraging it. I care about the crap they will deal with. You aren’t wrong that some of this is overwrought BS. However, some of this crap could distract from focusing on what will keep my kid alive. That matters to me. The military is a very BLUF business. Success can be great, but both success and failures can wind up in a box in the ground. I’m not interested in burying my kids. Especially so when leadership has their focus on BS.

Well, because as citizens who pay taxes to support the service academies to provide us with military leadership.
Your post sort of reeks of the attitude of a certain recent nominee for Virginia Governor - that parents should have no say in the education of their children. That didn’t play well with the voters.
And the military ALWAYS has zero bearing on the lives of civilians - until it fails badly enough.
