If it were me Id say a bottle of wine or whiskey (whichever he or she prefers) and, depending on how close you guys are, some time spent to chat and listen to some of his or her stories from their career or plans for retirement. But if you arent that close, just a nice wine or whiskey beats a model airplane. If they're that much of an airplane nerd like most of us are, they'll probably already have one.
