If it were me Id say a bottle of wine or whiskey (whichever he or she prefers) and, depending on how close you guys are, some time spent to chat and listen to some of his or her stories from their career or plans for retirement. But if you arent that close, just a nice wine or whiskey beats a model airplane. If they're that much of an airplane nerd like most of us are, they'll probably already have one.

Is a metal airplane model of the plane he retired on too cheesy?

maybe a nice bottle of wine?

or just a happy retirement card?
Glider pilot intro lesson unless he's already done that.

Okay thanks y’all! So sounds like a bottle of whiskey it is…

I am guessing Jack Daniels is a safe bet? I don’t know I’m really not much of a whiskey drinker I wonder if there’s anything better or fancier than Jack Daniels…

I say be funny, buy him a case of nips. The mini liquor bottles he maybe used to get all the time and hasn’t had a doggie bag in years. If you want to be funny fill several sick sacks full of them…

If it’s legal, buy him some high quality ganga, a water bong and a copy of Soul Plane

Redemption Wheated Bourbon is a good gift. I’m going to gift it to myself.
