AA clearly has the most retirements and therefor the best movement. However, I was told that every retirement triggers 3 training events. Lets say theres 800 retirements in a year: does the airlines training even have the capacity to train for all of the attrition plus growth? What im getting at here, in 3 years when AA retirements peak, will there be enough pilots for the airline to maintain or even grow its fleet? TIA

That is part of the reason they are hiring 2000+ a year even though retirements are less than 1000. It was partly due to the COVID early retirements but also to get ahead of the game. If AA was smart they would get this contract done to make being a CKA more attractive to current pilots.

Doesn't UA have ambitious expansion plans? Not sure about Delta but I think they do to but not to UA's extent. AA is not planing any significant expansion, especially in the WB fleet. So the AA's numbers doesn't need to factor in much growth.

Something like 430 Max, 120 321/XLR and 100 787s on order (with 100 more options) to replace 250 or so A319/320, 757/767/777-200. United does have ambitious expansion plans. We’ll see if SK decides he wants to deliver a contract to staff the expansion. The current one isn’t cutting it.

Well they are on pace to hire 2300 pilots this year. Only hired barely over 1800 in 2022. But we will see.

On a tangent, I'd be more concerned with short/mid-term seniority movement as opposed to final position at the bell.
That matters for QOL while you still have a family at home, so as to provide for them and also bank money for the future. That last is important both for time-value of money and also risk of health issues .

it’s not just the race to the top, the race OFF the bottom is very important as well.

Gentlemen, good evening
Although not exactly the same subject, but kind related, I would like to use this thread to look for some career advices:
I'm an south american citizen, and throughout the past few months, saw a lot of advertisement about the pilot shortage and the possibility to apply for an EB2 NIW visa, to pursue a career in USA.
Despite the whole immigration process and licence conversation with the FAA, with all can take up to 2 or 2,5 years long, I estimate that, after that period,
I will be 35y old, logging +3000H, being +2000h on the B737, which I'm currently type rated (although all SIC time), with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Sciences and Post-Graduation in aviation safety
I wonder if your guys have any clues or hints where that kind of experience/resumé can get me into (Legacy, Regional, Cargo, Fractional, etc)?!
**Of course, talk about something so far away in the future is hard, however I rather hear from you than only from greedy lawyers
well, thanks in advance
