Despite the whole immigration process and licence conversation with the FAA, with all can take up to 2 or 2,5 years long, I estimate that, after that period,
I will be 35y old, logging +3000H, being +2000h on the B737, which I'm currently type rated (although all SIC time), with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Sciences and Post-Graduation in aviation safety

I wonder if your guys have any clues or hints where that kind of experience/resumé can get me into (Legacy, Regional, Cargo, Fractional, etc)?!

**Of course, talk about something so far away in the future is hard, however I rather hear from you than only from greedy lawyers

well, thanks in advance
The license conversion and resume are not an issue. The EB2 NIW is a stretch.

Default Did I miss it?

I’ll be 41 in 2026 and eligible for hire from a major…..

bottom line. Did I miss the wave and any chance of a solid career or decent seniority at a legacy?

To add to this, what would be the best option(s) if moving to any base was no issue?

It’s up in the air if you will be a widebody CA, but you will still have a hell of a career.

As far as I know, historically, almost no pilots get work visas with this route. I think a few immigration lawyers are doing one of 3 things:

1. scamming you
2. Are incompetent
3. Or there is a sudden, hush hush, change happening with the Feds (trying to solve the pilot “shortage”) that is brand new and indeed this may work. I would definitely ask for proof of success. Talk to that pilot. Figure out if he has a PHD or some other extremely unique credentials that would normally be required for this visa, outside of aviation. Who is sponsoring the pilot, etc? it all seems far fetched.

You will never be super senior but you’ll be fine. With the lowering of hiring standards, that has opened the door for a **** ton of 20 something’s with low hours and/or no degrees to be hired. You definitely will have a whole bunch senior to you who will retire after you.

Point being that the hiring pool of 20 somethings has greatly expanded because in the past you needed years to gain enough hours to be competitive. So a new hire in their 20s was rare. You definitely will have a whole bunch senior to you who will retire after you.

Well, as far as I know, that process is actual doable, applying to the green card through I-140 form from the USCIS, then after approval getting the necessary visa to be legally approved to live and work in US. The whole thing can take up to 2,5y, so my concern is of it will be to late to enjoy such moment of hirings all around, although no one can clearly know this.

And like our colleague Aviator said above, my goal (for leaving everything behind) would be to get to the “big boys”, the Legacies ones or even an good Cargo, who knows, maybe a WB before retirement.

And also, from you guys’s experience, which places would be the best ones in terms of Quality of Life? Of course money matters, but also having an life outside job

Why do you think you would qualify for EB2-NIW? You are applying to be a line line pilot, and the pilot shortage has definitely not reached the point that Legacies are even contemplating EB3. Read this article , and got to the USCIS website . Maybe airlines will start sponsoring at some point. Until then Green card lottery or I-129F is your best shot....

You probably won’t be a widebody capt at delta. It’s possible at United or American but will most likely be near the bottom for the duration of your time there..

If widebody capt is the end goal, shoot for ups/FedEx. Otherwise living in base at any major will still be a terrific career.
