You pay a reduced amount because you benefit from the contract the Union negotiated. Stop trying to get things for free on the backs of others.

Yeah but you still have to pay for it which is asinine. There should be two groups, unionized and non-unionized. I would probably still join the union, but it is insulting and I am resentful that it is required or they are going to rob me anyway.
Right, and if you believe that then Hillary has some land in Arkansas to sell you. Look up the word "fungible"

There are strict rules backed up with significant penalties that keep PAC money we pay separate from dues money. I believe there was a DALPA podcast episode where they talked about this.
Honestly, you need to actually learn about pilot unions and what they have done for this profession because you just sound terribly misinformed. Yes they are definitely not perfect but I would never work for a non-union airline.

Easy solution for those who choose not to join their union. Exempt vs Non-exempt Employee...
Exempt employees usually hold administrative, professional, or executive positions. They're “exempt” from the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations and, therefore, not entitled to overtime pay. Nonexempt employees are typically paid hourly and perform more manual or technical duties.
Win win for one and all. Company save money on negotiated salaries and benefits and the employee gets to fly an airplane.

I find it odd that a pilot would want to be employed in a 121 environment and would prefer not to subscribe to legal representation. If anything other than contract dues, legal and medical representation/benefits could save your career. It’s not like the employers actually “care.”

I've figured out how not to get violated at this point, and if I did I'd get a real lawyer anyway.
