How come you didn’t mention JBs hiring numbers? My plan is to head over there to weather the Spirit storm. After the storm passes(depending on the damage), or if no storm comes; I’ll probably head back over to Spirit once hiring picks back up again.

When is ALPA going to give us the distressed carrier status? I might hold off a bit and take advantage of the designation. I think it gives your app more weight?

Huh? You would lose seniority at NK, go to JB and get start over only to then possibly go back to NK and start over?

I admit I could be missing something here but that seems like a strange path to take.

ALPA does not hire pilots or control seniority lists. Those are management functions. They can ask nicely or negotiate something in a contract cycle but that's it.

My plan is to go over to UAL for a few years to scratch the widebody/long-haul flying itch then go back to my 20+ years seniority at SWA. Maybe we can compare notes 👍

In the past, it was common for an airline to sell owned assets (planes) to a leasing company and then just least them back. Increased liquidity for other purposes (such as buybacks), and takes the planes off the list of capital assets which might attract predators, converting them to debt which might deter predators.

Does SW have a program that lets you return to your previous seniority if the airline you leave for is superior? If so that’s a selling point to maybe weather the storm at SW vs JB.
